well, the name charlie may have been chosen cause the C(harlie) Company of the 2nd Ranger Battalion is believed to be the first group of allied soldiers to have made it to the top of the cliffs at Omaha Beach.
just a thought..

Charlie is the name of a landing sector on Omaha beach. I'd imagine the map tries/tried to replicate that location.
