Why doesnt Dods have it. maps like donner and strand sucks cause its too big.

Not completely sure what your getting at...

The amount of players that can be held on a server depends on the connection and the specifications of the server running it

Better connection + more RAM + better CPU = more players

It's hard to hold too many people without lagg

css zombies sever can hold 50 people at once with smooth gameplay, dont know what u are getting at

He is asking why doesn't DoD:s have 64 player servers, like say, CSS.

I honestly don't know, but It takes a massive box to run a server with 64 people on it. CSS has less explosions and whatnot than DoD:S so that could be a reason.

i think u need to play some css zombie

I'm going to take a stab at this and say it might have something to do with the episode 2 game engine

If you run a hl2 episode 1 based game, you'll notice the system resources used are much lower and it requires less

Episode 2 requires much more, at least double from my experience

So maybe that's why?

can u guys ahve 40 player severs for donner, and strand. it would make it much more phun, do u agree. 40 players is not much

Hi Theface,
The reason Day Of Defeat: Source doesn't have 64 slots is due to the excessive resources that it needs. It would need a complete dedicated box, just for one single server. That is an instance. You can fit 3-5 (32 slots) or maybe six instances (servers) on one box but a 64 slot server takes up an entire box. It uses may more resources. It would also cause a lot of lag as many have said due to the fact that with all the explosions and many other things. Also, the spawn points would be an issue as well. For example; dod_avalanche wouldn't be able to hold 64 players due to how small the map is. Counter-Strike Source can handle 64 players, but it also depends on the server box they're using. I hope this clarifies your question.

I'm going to go ahead and lock this now
