time and time again i have ask you guys to help me with tech stuff, and time again you have never disappointed me.

finally, after some months of hard earned work, school, and nagging parents, i have finally conjure up some free cash (in which money i didnt need to use on bills and such) to get my first rig on my own.

and can someone let me know if those ram sticks will go into that motherboard? it should be able, but doesnt hurt to ask

an old alienware case that my brother, uhhhhh, 'found' XD yes, i have 2 1tb hardedrives, so i was like, wth, why not just use those two.

and one more thing, how is windows 7 64bit? is it stable? i really want to use all of the ram this time, not just 3gb.

I too, am using Windows 7 x64, although I have Ultimate, not Pro.
But, it is easily the best OS I've used, which ranges from OS6, 9, Windows 95, 2000, XP, and Vista.
But just in case we can get a better build, what is your budget, main use of the computer, and what all do you need (just what you link'd)?

budget is not that great, but its mainly just for light gaming and web browsing. not really hardcore gaming with like 2 graphics card and 6 core cpu. just one that can last me for like another 3 maybe 4 years before i have to upgrade again

so yea, i think the build i have right now will make my games look awesome, run pretty much anything i can throw at it (all stuff at stock, no overclocked) and also run multiple things on my desktop without much slow down.

i have dual core and 3gb of ram right now and its great, but when i open more apps, it starts to slow.

so altogether, im fine with the build, suggestions is welcomed, and something for gaming and multitasking.

well i have a question for you sir. what do you plan to do with your current setup (well i mean when its all in your new system)? what do you plan to do with the left over parts (dual-core cpu & memory)? also i really dont see the need to go after the ati 5800, esp seeing as it just came out. there are other video cards that do just as much damage but cost half the price. you might want to do more research on other video cards. from what ive heard, nvidia isnt doin the best of jobs right now, so look into maybe the ati 4xxx series, perferably the most recent ones that came out. the video quality on them will be very similar to the 5800, but for around half the price. i dont plan to upgrade myself for a while, seeing as my card is doin just fine. its 1 of the old 9800's by nvidia, but i believe i can wait til something affordable comes my way. just some friendly advice for ya fatty.

When using a computer case from a computer company, make sure its an ATX case. Those computer companies like to pull that BTX tower crap on you. Motherboard tray is on the left side versus the right side of the case when its a BTX case.

Windows 7 x64 is AMAZING. especially on a SSD by itself or in its own partition.

im not going to strip my current computer of anything. im leaving as it because im giving it to my brother. the reason im going with the 58 is because i want the hdmi and i dont want to upgrade later on for awhile.

alright guys, i think this will be my final set up, gonna go order it, and thanks again boyscout, i completely forgot about that college thing, saved me like $30 :3

altogether, my system is going to come to about $800, not bad not bad.
