Hi guys!

I'm new to BC2, coming from TF2. Just some thoughts on the recon class: which sniper do you guys prefer? The M24 or the M95?

Personally, I feel the M95 is very bulky but has that "power" feel to it. M24 just feels sleek, fast, and all around more reliable. :p And it looks pretty cool, especially with the camo. Thoughts?

Oh, and does anyone know what that spotting sniper scope does..? Seems rather useless. :glare:

I vote for the M95, not without a reason you get that sniper at last:)

I like the M95, particularly as a heavy offensive sniper, but I tend to do better with the m24, and always end up going back to it :P

Nether snipers are the worst class in the game... they bring nothing to the fight and all they do is camp... now you might think "oh well noxx just gets sniped all day and hes raging" but this is not true its more i'm just sick of seeing teams lose cause like 80% of their team is sniping 2 miles away from the REAL men that rush in.

I prefer the M95 because it does more damage at range. Sure its not as accurate as the other two, but I seem to have no trouble aiming with it.

+1 dude, they should have a limit of 4 snipers per team. Max 7% or something.
Becaus snipers do nothing, assault and engineer and medic FTW;)

Personnaly and by stats the m95 is better, the .50 cal bullet lets you shot enemies through "thick" walls, wood and such it has a better "penetration" level so to say, but the m95 feels slower, scopes in slower and the "bolt" is slow the m95 barrett is a bolt-action sniper which is different from most of the barrett's snipers, like the infamous m82. m24 is faster, lighter, scopes in faster but it lacks that range and "power" of a .50cal bullet it all comes down to what you prefer, "power or mobility" . I prefer power.

So true. Recon is THE support class. A team with very few (or none) sniper could easily win. A team full of sniper will almost never win.

Anyway, it way more fun being in the heat of the battle, surrounded by explosion with bullet flying over your head than hiding in the bush.

M95 ftw, if enemy has taken shot u can finish him even with bodyshot :)
But ofcourse M24 does the same thing, but it doesn't have enough dmg in my opinion..

I prefer the M-95.

Also, it's the recon class...not the sniper class. People need to try using it for others things, like scouting with a Saiga, sneaking up on tanks, or just planting motion sensors in enemy areas. It really helps.

Having a few sniper recons on defense is great, but having them on attack is mostly terrible...

@noxx: So why then am I, as a sniper, able to get most kills/points in my own team, without camping? Just because some people play recon by camping only it doesn't mean the class is useless. Motion mines do help and a skilled player knows where to chuck them. Same goes for C4. If you know how to use it tanks and mcom stations are no problem at all.
It all depends on the player.

I'd go with M95, getting those guys out of the chopper has never been so much fun! I'm also very curious if the spotting scope does anything since I haven't seen it help in any way at all.

@noxx, does this include the VSS + RDS/magnum combo? Cuz i mean... that's campy AND amazing; lol.

also, M95 + 4x is pretty amazing for up close and personal maps.

I prefer both honestly and use them about equally (my favorite is the gol however).

Well if you are sniping and you are leading your team in kills that really means nothing(Good shooting tho :P) well it means one thing lol your team is complete garbage. Now when a "sniper" switches from a rifle with a scope he becomes a recon meaning move in sneaky and killing without a trace or use the motion mines to relay reconnaissance thus the name :P The type of recon that moves up with out a scoped rifle gets a +1 in my book its an awesome class to move in and give a good spawn point for his other squad mates and they are great at setting traps like C4 on a helo or tank or w/e is clever, but when all they do is snipe -10 cause they lose the round for their team cause all it takes is a medic to revive the 1 target he kills at a time.

I have to agree. The recon class gets a bad rep simply b/c a lot of players tend to camp. Personally, I like playing the more "aggressive" style of sniping in which you follow your squad and take out those pesky people far away, help out your mates with sensors, and clear out nests/buildings with mortar strikes. Seems to work better for me than camping with a nest of snipers. xD And it's more fun!
