Help me cut cost for my gaming Pc

Everyone seems to be neglecting the i3. yeah its a dual core, but with hyperthreading. And yeah its $99. And yeah, its OC's like a madman. My office machine is running at 4.2 w/ 1.3vcore on a twenty something dollar cooler ( CM hyper 212) . Temps are steady at 33c / 60c .

NEVER heard good things about hitachi... Well maybe once, i heard they make decent microwaves and TV's .

If you want the best performance Intel's i3/i5/i7 series are great processors, I think the OP was looked to get AMD though.

dbee, I don't doubt that i3's are good, but the i5 dual cores are not worth the price, they are too close to the i5 quads (and I think the i7).

needless to say I have had bad luck with Hitachi.

I have seen many segates/WD's fail aswell (7200.11 anyone?)

Just saying. If you really want a non-Hitachi, go for it.

Not that the i3 is bad, the OP said he wanted AMD

Gotcha, ans BASS i was speaking only of the i3 for its $99 price point and not the i5 .plus i dont see ANY AMD processor in that price range getting to 4.2 on cheap air with such low voltage.

If AMD's ur brand, go for it. BE sure to get a Phenom II BE. Bought a friend of mine the 720be tri-core $99 and has it clocked to 3.6 fully stable on a $80 board.

If I had an AM3 board + DDR3 ram, I could try. I could hit 4GHz, no doubt.
