And if you feel like it and/or have time, I'd appreciate a review of the 1998 one too

I saw the 1998 version in theaters... of course I was 9 at the time and can't remember a darn thing about it. Also, no I haven't seen the new one yet.

They have a flash game of this (or is it shockwave?)

No idea, it was the first song I could think of with 2000 in the title.

Title: The Thirteenth Floor
Year: 1999
Country of Origin: US/Germany
Director: Josef Rusnak

Plot: On the 13th floor of an office building in Los Angeles there exist a computer that contains a full simulations of 1930 Los Angeles. Oh, and it totally allows users to jump into the simulation.

Review: So yeah, this is a movie about a computer generated realities...which would be all fine and good...but it came out in 1999. Now you might be asking yourself, what is the significance of 1999? Well that is the year The Matrix came out. Yeah, 1999 was a bad year to come out with a Sci-fi film about computer simulated reality...well that is unless you were coming out with The Matrix.

See The Thirteenth Floor is pretty mediocre, but it has some good ideas and some of its execution is nifty enough. Sure the ending doesn't work at all and the acting is just alright, but if this was released in the 80s or early 90s it would be a cult film now. It was just bad luck that it was released in 1999, or just a lack of foresight. So yeah, this one isn't really worth watch, its pretty forgettable and well...heck there is a The Matrix, why would you need to watch The Thirteenth Floor.

Title: Airplane!
Year: 1980
Country of Origin: US
Director: Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, Jerry Zucker

Plot: "The" spoof comedy.

Review: This is the quintessential comedy and almost certain that 50 years from now it will be just as funny. Yes, it is a little date...mostly because the film is technically a spoof of the now irrelevant Airport series, but you'll forgive it once you get into the film. There are more jokes per minute in this film than what you will find in just about any other comedy. These range from sight gags to physical humor, and some of the funniest word play out there. Sure not all of the jokes work, but the quantity of jokes that do more than make up for the ones that don't work.

If you haven't seen Airplane!...see it. Just see it. I don't care how, just go out and watch this movie.

Have you reviewed Life of Pi yet?

I haven't seen it. I'm not that big of a fan of Ang Lee and what happened to that VFX house, the people responsible for the film's CGI, just rubbed me the wrong way. I'll see it eventually, but it's not on the top of my must see list.

Ill be honest, I was wanting to review the movies tonight, but got attacked by allergies. Im hoping to take care of it possibly tomorrow if not thurs or fri.

Momento (2000) seems like a notable exception. It's one of my favorite movies; I wonder if you have seen it.

Title: Premium Rush
Year: 2012
Country of Origin: US
Director: David Koepp

Plot: In Manhattan, a bike messenger picks up an envelope that attracts the interest of a dirty cop, who pursues the cyclist throughout the city.

Review: So I was at redbox 1 night looking for movies & happened to come upon this movie. Noticed it has Joseph Gordon-Levitt on it and it immediately reminded me of how impressed Sexy was with how many movies he signed on to do, so I figured it was worth a shot.

I do like the fact that they added as much action into a guy riding a bike thru Manhattan as possible. This movie may not be for everyone (especially for those who are into action films) mainly because parts of this movie remind me of Die Hard with A Vengenace.

One thing you will notice that they backtrack the movie more than once so that you can understand the story line (not sure if this is something that David Koepp does or if it was simply written into the script, but I really liked the idea).

Overall, I was really impressed with how much effort Joseph really put into his character. There was a lil bit of drama, which did to a certain extent held the movie back, but wasn't really that bad. So if you're looking for a movie that's unlike any other movie out there that's a good mix of action & suspense/thriller, then id say that this movie is worth a watch.

PS- Sexy may have a different opinion of this movie once he watches it, but then again this is his thread & we are all entitled to our own opinions about the movies.

Wonder if you have ever seen Second Hand Lions?

Worth a watch if you have not seen it.

Family flick that everyone can enjoy :P

Title: Jurassic Park
Year: 1993
Country of Origin: US
Director: Steven Spielberg

Plot: A group of scientists are brought to a secluded island by an eccentric billionaire who boasts that he is opening a theme park featuring Dinosaurs...real dinosaurs.

Review: This is the reason why I usually give Steven Spielberg a pass when it comes to criticism. Jurassic Park is just one of those films that works perfectly. It's really easy to buy both the plot and the film's world, like you're instantly willing to give the film the benefit of the doubt. This alone is amazing, given that it's a film about dinosaurs. The actors hit all their marks, even the kids aren't that annoying. The real stars are the dinosaurs, who are mostly animatronics and still look great today. This is a must see for pretty much everyone.

Saw the new evil dead remake this weekend, made plenty of homages to the others but didn't feel like evil dead, didn't have the same humor but had a lot of gore. And added a bit of a twist on the original. I'd suggest going at night with a group.

I'm sorry if I come off as snobby on this, but the original Evil Dead didn't have any humor. The Evil Dead is a straight up horror movie, with nary a shred of humor, though it has a ridicules amount of gore. Evil Dead II, on the other hand, is a horror-comedy fill with gore and slapstick.

I have to say this: If you have not seen The Evil Dead, you should really see it...the film is streaming on Netflix right now. Just don't expect it to be like Evil Dead II.

I haven't seen the remake yet. I've heard some mixed things about it so far.

I meant the humor of Evil Dead II and its been a while since seeing the original and didnt quite remember all of it since Evil Dead II and Evil Dead are fairly similar (as far as I can recall). I'll be rewatching all three others to jog my memory.
