Story: The Karate Kid meets Awesome

Review: Here is a movie you probably haven't seen, but should. This is one of the most entertaining films that the 80s has to offer. The film begins with a tough New York cop, whose death is faked and is recruited into a secret government agency. He is taught matrix like martial arts from a Korean master and soon he is able to dodge bullets and run on water. One of the most underappreciated action films of all time, do yourself a favor and watch this one.

Title: Death Wish

Story: A man's wife is killed and daughter raped by muggers, so he goes on a vigilante style rampage.

Review: This is a film that came out at a time during great social instability and rampant crime rates in New York. We're talking about the pre-Giuliani New York here, the dark and dirty New York. So this film hit the right cords when it came out and managed to worry a lot of people who feared that the film would inspire rampant Vigilante violence. Today, the film is far less incendiary as it would have been 40 years ago. It's still a good movie though and one that does well to capture the mood of the mid 70s.

Title: Death Becomes Her

Story: A comedy about death, or lack there of.

Review: This is a dark comedy about narcissism, but it's not very good. I would have almost forgotten that this film even existed if it weren't for the special effects, which were spectacular for the early 90s. If you manage to catch it on TV, it's worth a watch, but not much more.

Story: Why John Rhys-Davies why?

Review: Here is one of many Sci-fi (or syfy) channel grade disaster films that I've seen. For some reason China managed to loosen the tectonic plates and now earth will get really hot and in three days the world will end. How will they ever stop this catastrophe? Well with nuclear weapons of course, you know the cure all plot device in almost every disaster film. This film is pretty much **** and should be avoided.

Title: The Killing

Story: A tale of a group of criminals robbing a racetrack.

Review: Most people haven't seen this Kubrick film and it's to bad, because this is a great film noir. The film primarily focuses more on the planning of the the robbery than the actual robbery. It's an entertaining story, with great acting and good camera work from Kubrick. Worth renting.

Story: "No problem, just Rush Hour"

Review: Flawed, but entertaining buddy cop/fish out water tale, puts Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker together in comedic fashion. There really isn't much more to say than that, Chan and Tucker make a good comedy duo. I just wish that they didn't make the sequels...god they were bad.

Story: Kill Bill: Vol. 0

Review: Kill Bill owes a lot to this film...wait what am I saying, Tarantino paid homage (Ripped off) this film for Kill Bill. I guess it's more of an homage considering he had the theme music for Snowblood in Kill bill. Anyway this is the best Japanese revenge flick, no joke...there isn't anything that can beat this. It's a highly entertaining classic.

Story: Mr. Bean annoys people abroad.

Review: I'm going to get a lot of hate for saying this, but I'll admit it, I'm not a fan of Mr. Bean...never have been. For me Atkinson's best work has always been the Blackadder series, but to each their own I guess. In this film the likable idiot that is Mr. Bean goes to France where he gets into crazy situations, some funny...some not. If you're a fan of Mr. Bean then by all means see this, but for people who aren't familiar...would say skip this and watch the TV series.

Story: Max is a paranoid number theorist, whose working on a way to predict the stock market. One day his supercomputer kicks out a 216 number, that appears to absolutly meaningless. Soon he is hounded by a Wall Street firm and a group of Hasidic Jews for the pointless number. This is a weird film...scratch that, it's a very weird film. One that a lot of people will probably not like, but I liked it...so whatever. The film was shot in high contrast black and white one a budget of $60,000. Hmm...ran out of things to say about this one.

I was going to stickie this thread till I realized "Ghostbusters" and "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" (The 2005 movie, not the original TV show) weren't on the list :(
