Article ITT I attempt to review every movie I've seen.

Total Recall!!!!

Total_recall.jpg

Title: Total Recall
Year: 1990
Country of Origin: US
Director: Paul Verhoeven

Story: Open your mind. OPEN YOUR MIND!

Review: This is a prime example of why Verhoeven is so damn awesome. This film is on the surface just another dumb Sci-fi action film, but dig a bit and there is some depth to the story. Add in crazy violent action and an ambiguous ending and you have one entertaining film. On top of that it has two of my favorite camp actors, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Michael Ironside.

Title: The Freshman
Year: 1990
Country of Origin: US
Director: Andrew Bergman

Story: A film student somehow winds up in the employment of a Godfather type individual.

Review: Funny quasi-parody of The Godfather about a film student, played by Broderick, who lands employment with a possible mafioso. The jokes are kind of hit or miss, but the overall film is very enjoyable. The film does a great job with Brando's character and on several occasions Broderick's character comments on how he seems so much like the Godfather. This isn't an excellent film, but one that my family and I love.

The_Life_of_Emile_Zola_poster.jpg

Title: The Life of Emile Zola
Year: 1937
Country of Origin: US
Director: William Dieterle

Story: I think the title explains it quite well.

Review: Well done biography on the famed French author ?mile Zola. The film breezes through Zola's early life and jumps straight to his involvement in the equally famed Dreyfus affair. The Dreyfus affair was about French captain Alfred Dreyfus who was unfairly charged with treason. Zola eventually managed to get Dreyfus exonerated and it wound up being a big black eye to the French government...anyway enough history. This is an underappreciated classic and deserves to be seen by more people.

The Fugitive

The_Fugitive_movie.jpg

Title: The Fugitive
Year: 1993
Country of Origin: US
Director: Andrew Davis

Story: "Alright, listen up, people. Our fugitive has been on the run for ninety minutes. Average foot speed over uneven ground barring injuries is 4 miles-per-hour. That gives us a radius of six miles. What I want from each and every one of you is a hard-target search of every gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse in that area. Checkpoints go up at fifteen miles. Your fugitive's name is Dr. Richard Kimble. Go get him."

Review: Easily on of the most iconic films of the 90s follow Richard Kimble a man wrongfully accused of his wife's murder. When he escapes from prison after an accident, he tries to hunt down the man who killed his wife while being hounded by a tenacious US Marshal. This is a highly entertaining thrill ride and a must see...for everyone.

hey sexy beast, gotta admit that your a pretty harsh critic because for all the fillers in the movie, i thought it was a pretty good movie. ill admit that its not worth a 2nd watch, but ill admit that it was pretty decent. i would have to give it a 6 because denzels character seemed a bit shy while johns character was a lil bit off the wall. i would definitely be interested in seeing the original tho. also beast, please repost the link to your netflix queue so that i can watch some of the flix that ur interested in watching so i can watch & review em. i would also suggest that you watch the movies (partly for your enjoyment) but also to give a 2nd review as everyone always has a 2nd opinion bout each movie.

Well the rating is mostly due to Scott's film making technique. I don't consider myself a snob...but Tony Scott really rubs me the wrong way.

Anyway...I sort of don't recommend watching a good deal of things that are on my queue. They kind of err on the really weird an demented.

The only Tony Scott movies I like are Top Gun and True Romance. To be completely honest I don't even know why I like Top Gun, I've seen it a dozen times and still don't really understand the plot or what it's about.

True Romance on the other hand is just pure awesome. Quentin Tarantino's writing is superb.

Alien vs Predator Series then

>.<

Why couldn't you say something good...like the Alien series or something?

Avpmovie.jpg

Title: Alien vs. Predator
Year: 2004
Country of Origin: US
Director: Paul W. S. Anderson

Story: Is there one? I don't know and I've seen this twice.

Review: I can just see it now, a group of studio execs mulling over how to milk more cash out of the Alien and Predator franchises. I can imagine one of them saying, "Hey, I just did a google search and there is apparently a game that pits the two franchises together...we can use that." Or maybe Paul W.S. Anderson liked the game and decided to make it, the man is basically the Uwe Boll of the US.

The "plot" revolves around a group of scientists (alien fodder) who discover a pyramid in Antarctica...I'll you soak that one in for a second...Ok. It turns out this was built by an ancient civilization who worshiped the Predators...once again please soak this in. And guess what the Predators due there? Come on try to guess. Ok...wait for it...wait for it...that's right they battle the Aliens there. Yeah, this is a stupid idea for a movie.

This is so terribly done...that I have great difficulty believing that such a film exists. Like it could be some terrible dream or something.

*Oh, and I haven't seen the second one.

Agreed...and I sort of liked Enemy of the State.

im still trying to figure out how die hard 3 got poorer ratings than die hard 2 to be perfectly honest lol

The film just seemed less plausible than the second and the script tried to wedge in racial tension for no apparent reason. Then again I did give it an 8/10...which is nothing to sneeze at.

...actually screw it in hind sight they need to be reversed.

Only because Will Smith is a BAMF.

Speaking of Will Smith. How about some Independence Day???

They're doing a sequel to this.

Independence_day_movieposter.jpg

Title: Independence Day
Year: 1996
Country of Origin: US
Director: Roland Emmerich

Story: Aliens attack earth and for some strange reason they name it Independence Day.

Review: Not a great film, but still an entertaining one. This tale follows several individuals as they attempt to survive and fight the Alien invasion. One of the more memorable films to come out of the 90s. Also pretty funny to see Will Smith teamed up with Jeff Goldblum. Seriously though...the plot is full of holes. Then again the Aliens could have been running Windows.

Session_nine.jpg

Title: Session 9
Year: 2001
Country of Origin: US
Director: Brad Anderson

Story: Apparently removing asbestos in a haunted insane asylum is a bad idea.

Review: I saw this because I heard that this was both one of the scariest and one of the most underappreciated films to come out in recent memory. So I sat down and watched it...now what I about to say could be because this one was way to hyped up for me but...this film is really really mediocre, seriously I haven't seen a film this bland in quite some time. It's not scary nor is it particularly well shot or acted. There is a twist ending that isn't all that surprising. I seriously can't think of anything that this film does to separate itself from hundreds of other films just like it.

Title: Reservoir Dogs
Year: 1992
Country of Origin: US
Director: Quentin Tarantino

Story: "I don't tip because society says I have to. All right, if someone deserves a tip, if they really put forth an effort, I'll give them something a little something extra. But this tipping automatically, it's for the birds. As far as I'm concerned, they're just doing their job."

Review: Tarantino's debut film is...well...brilliant. The story, acting, directing, pacing, dialog...everything...incredibly well done. This is independent film making at its best. Trust me, despite the foul language of this film, you want to see this movie.

Still my favourite Tarantino film.
How 'bout doing Bullit
