Haven't seen it.

There was just something about growing up watching Home Improvement and The Santa Clause that makes me want to kill Tim Allen...

Story: "Afghanistan banana stand."

Review: A lighthearted crime caper, dealing with a group of smart criminals who steal a diamond only to lose the new found bounty. The film is basically set up with a series of heist, where our criminal quartet try to reacquire the diamond time and time again, only to lose it each time. It's a pretty funny film and very entertaining. If you ever get a chance to watch it, then give a try.

Title: Small Time Crooks

Director: Woody Allen

Story: A group of none to smart ex-cons decided to rob a bank. To do so the rent a small space next to the back so that they may tunnel into the bank vault. In an attempt to evade suspicion the wives of some of the crooks start up a bakery in the space, and wouldn't you know it, the bakery becomes incredibly successful.

Review: Probably Allen's best work in the first half of the 2000s. The film is cleaver, funny, and pretty enjoyable. The humor at time goes a little over board and some of the plot elements don't work quite right, but still that are far worse Woody Allen films to watch.

Story: Famed philosopher and psychoanalyst Slavoj Žižek, considers film the ultimate perverted art. In this movie he explains why.

Review: I consider myself pretty damn lucky to have seen this. I was in England back in the summer of 06', staying with family when this aired on the BBC, I watched the whole thing and enjoyed it immensely. I came back to the states only to find out the this sucker basically aired once and then done. If you want to watch it now, then you got to pony up some cash to buy it off their site.

Anyway, this is the documentary that really launched my interest in weird cinema. Basically this introduced me to the works of David Lynch, Lars von Trier, and Michael Haneke. It also showed that these films had deeper meaning behind them and to the concept of film theory. All of which I have say, is pretty damn cool.

If there is any down point of this, it's Slavoj Žižek. The film two and half hours long and is written and narrated by Žižek. So it's a bit of an issue that, at times, it's pretty difficult to understand what he's saying. Still the man is brilliant, crazy, and freaking hilarious. Trust me if you ever come across this documentary, just give it a watch.

Story: A charismatic preacher, whose faith is non-existent, plans on doing a documentary to show that exorcism is really a fraud. So he and a two person documentary crew head out to the middle of no-where to perform one last exorcism.

Review: Guess what. This movie isn't bad and I might go as far as saying that this one is actually pretty good. The film is shot in the pseudo-documentary style that is all the rage with horror film makers these days, which means that jump scares are plentiful. What really helps the film go is the acting and the story. Everyone does a great job with their roles and surprisingly there isn't one bad performance in the whole film. The story is very ambiguous and keeps the audience guessing till the very end. There will be a lot of people who will hate the ending of this film, but I personally enjoyed the over the top and sudden finally.

Story: My momma always said that life was like a box of meaningless analogies.

Review: There are actually two camps out there when it comes to Forrest Gump. The first love the film and think that is a perfect film about not writing off someones life for one reason or another. The second group finds the film a little to easy and to tied up by the end, which removes the film from reality and thus renders the message pointless.

I frankly think that this is a wholly enjoyable film. Zemeckis and company has managed to make a modern day feel good classic. One that I can't find any real fault with...other than the story is a little to tidy which makes the film more like a fantasy than it should.

heres a short review of the movie (sexy beast dont take my words on this review seriously because i wont give a numerical rating on the movie). i really didnt dig it because of the fact that its just too slow. theres a few fighting scenes, but not enough to keep it interesting. its really more of a drama movie than an action flick. i believe that the director tried to combine both elements but just didnt work here. you may have enjoyed it dude, but i just didnt dig it. i hope that helps ya sexy beast.

btw imo the movie cradle to the grave is a better movie that shows jet li's true skills in a similar environment.

speaking of cradle to the grave, have you seen it sexy beast?

Director: Ron Howard

Story: In my honest opinion the ballsiest thing that mankind has ever done was go into outer space in 1960's technology.

Review: Ron Howard isn't the best director out there. For every Cinderella man there is a How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It's obvious that the guy is talented, but he's made many poor choices when it comes to choosing projects to direct. Apollo 13 along with A Beautiful Mind are apparently his two crowning achievements...though I still haven't seen A Beautiful Mind.

When it came out all the way back in 1995, Apollo 13 was a instant classic and one that actually still stands up today. As most of you already know, the plot follows a group of Astronauts from training to flight of the ill fated Apollo 13 mission. The direction, pacing, and acting are all top notch and to tell the truth...there isn't anything inherently wrong with this film. If you haven't seen Apollo 13 then you're missing out on one of the great films of the 90's.
