Everyone is praising the Avengers... I really need to get around to watching it.

You should and be sure to see it in a theater, the final third of the film really needs to be seen on the big screen.

Spartacus, along with Lolita, are the only two Kubrick films that I haven't seen. I never had a burning desire to see Dances with Wolves, I guess I'll see it eventually.

Hey Sexy, remember to stay w/ The Thing while I review Killer Elite. I did rent it at one point, however the dvd was messed up & therefore wasnt able to give it a proper review. This time im hoping to get the blu-ray version of the movie.

Also Sexy, do me a favor & post ur link to Netflix so that we can find out what other movies ur wanting to watch, but havent had the chance.

I killed my DVD rental with them, I went with streaming...which is a crazy way to kill time with TV shows. I went through all of Supernatural recently and now I'm well into season 2 of Mad Men.
 
So anyway my cousin was down last week and like every other time she is down visiting we go to Blockbuster and rent a crappy horror film or two. We've been doing this for years now and well I think its about time I begin to review some of these crap films.

Title: Slaughter
Year: 2009

Director: Stewart Hopewell

Story: A young woman moves to the big city to hide from her abusive Ex-boyfriend. She befriends a girl who lives on her family farm with her creepy father...let the horror begin.

Review: Slaughter is part of the "8 films to die for series", I've never seen one before and give the quality of this film...I'll probably wont see any of the others. Slaughter wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so damn boring. For me, it doesn't matter how bad the plot, the acting, or the direction of a film is; if its entertaining then the film isn't a complete disaster. Slaughter is not entertaining...its dull and it drags on and on and on. Heck we fast-forwarded maybe 40 min of the film, and we missed absolutely nothing of the plot. This one isn't scary, entertaining, or particularly well put together. Do yourself a favor and avoid this film.

Story: Another film about a haunted hospital...yay.

Review: I feel a little bad about doing this review. Boo was never designed to be a good film, it had a small budget and small ideas. The overall feel of the film is definitely ?Z? grade. In fact during the first couple minutes of the film my cousin and I assumed that it we were watching a joke beginning...like a character in the film was watching a bad horror film and any moment the camera would pull out and we'd see our protagonist sitting on the couch watching TV. Well that didn't happen, it is just that bad. Still it the film has a certain quality to it that is admirable...it doesn't take itself seriously. Which, for a film like this is a godsend. If you feel like watching a cheesy and I mean CHEESY horror film, then this is probably what your looking for. Anyone else would do well to avoid.

Director: Robert Wilson

Story: A group of friends go to a cabin in the woods...actually wait. Do people really go to a cabin in the remot part of the woods to vacation, like college age kids? I mean I have never been or have heard of someone going to their friends or relatives cabin out in the middle of no where. Is this a thing?

Review: Dead Mary makes the mistake of being so self serious that its borderline pretentious. The film's name come from the sleep over game Bloody Mary, why they didn't just call it Bloody Mary is beyond me...and its presented in the same freaking way in the film. The plot is a mixture of Evil Dead and The Thing. Which sounds decent enough, but the film is such a dull drudge that its difficult to care about anything that happens. The 1 hour 40 minute run time feels like 3 hours. Avoid this like some sort of dibilitating disease, the time I took to watch this film is time that I will never get back.

Director: Nathan Greno & Byron Howard

Story: Disney's Shrek like take on Rapunzel.

Review: I liked Tangled, its charming, inoffensive, and light-hearted...though the most important thing about this film is that it shows that Disney can make a film of this quality without Pixar. Between this and The Princess and the Frog it looks like the Disney Animation Studios is finally coming back to form.

Anyway, this film is well voice-acted, well-animated, its funny when it needs to be and the plot isn't terrible. So all in all its actually worth watching. Sure it might not be as good as some of Pixar's better films, but Tangled is still wholly watchable.

Story: It turns out the most dangerous game were actually the Romans.

Review: The plot of Centurion revolves around the disappearance and possible massacre of the Ninth Legion Roman, which happened around the same time as the construction of Hadrian's Wall. The story though is not exactly historical in nature, it is in fact another in a long line of adaptations of "The Most Dangerous Game". In this film it is a small group of Roman soldiers on the run from Picts who are hunting them. Overall this is not a good or memorable film, its alright...but it lacks pizazz of Apocalypto, a film that did "The Most Dangerous Game" far better than Centurion.

Director: Brian De Palma

Story: Strangely enough, it has very little to do with The Black Dahlia murder.

Review: Oh Brian, what the hell happened? Up until Snake Eyes you were at the top of your game. Hell The Untouchables, Carlito's Way, Carrie...heck you had a great carrier. Today, not so much and The Black Dahlia definitely had a part to play in that. There are two words that describe this film well, the first is bloated and the second is dull. This is a film that just isn't entertaining or interesting, avoid this one.

I started watching it one day, something came up and I never got to finish it. I've been meaning to get back to it
