Article ITT I attempt to review every movie I've seen.

I live in the states...so no review for like a week or when ever its coming out. Also, yeah I haven't reviewed anything for a while. I have had a lot on my plate recently, i'll try to get a new review out some time this week. Probably gunna be a review of The Master which I saw like a month ago.

Tetsuo the Iron Man - Its the most disgusting horror movie I've ever watched [explicit content]

I don't know, Japanese cyberpunk movies are actually worth watching. Most of them have good ratings

How about Argo? Personally I thought it was fantastic.

Haven't seen it. I wanted to see that and Seven Psychopaths...but I couldn't get any one to go.

Oh god, please let us know how felt about it. One of my friends said it was like particularly bad acid trip...and my friend has done enough acid to know.

Skyfall_poster.jpg

Title: Skyfall
Year: 2012
Country of Origin: UK/US
Director: Sam Mendes

Plot: "Is there any of the old 007 left?"

Review: After Quantum of Solace, MGM went into bankruptcy and the future of the James Bond franchise was left in limbo. As a result several articles began to pop up in newspapers and magazines asking whether Bond should be retired? The series was pushing 50 at that point and Quantum of Solace was both mediocre and such a massive departure of from the franchise that it easily could have been marketed as having nothing to do with Bond at all. In fact the Daniel Craig reboot had sought to distance itself from the rest of the franchise and as such these films lost a lot of what made Bond...well Bond.

Fortunately we did get another Bond film and one that is willing to tackle the big question: Is James Bond still relevant?

The whole production seems to be geared towards exploring the franchises past; the script is littered with references to Bonds age, the relevancy of MI6 in this world of asymmetrical warfare, and whether James Bond is still James Bond? This is easily the headiest and most introspective film in the franchise and by far and away the smartest. The direction of the film is very impressive, given that Sam Mendes has not really directed action up until this point. The action scenes are all fun and exciting to watch. The acting is very good all around, props go to Javier Bardem for his role as the most deranged villain that the series has ever had. It?s hard to find any real fault the films mechanics, though there is a little camp which greats a bit with the films tone.

Frankly this is an impressive film that manages to reconcile franchises past while building its own future. Casino Royal may have been a reboot, but Skyfall gives the franchise a fresh start. One that is closer to its roots than it has ever been.

Ok so seeing as how I watched the Tetsuo movie & just learned this morning that it had already been watched & reviewed, I will heed this 1 simple warning to all curious to have new (or old movies) watched & reviewed: Please check the first page to make sure that the movie that you want reviewed really has not been reviewed. Im sure that this may have been an overlooked mistake, but I want to give this out as some nice lil friendly advice.

Speaking of odd ball Japaneses films:

Title: Wild Zero
Year: 1999
Country of Origin: Japan
Director: Tetsuro Takeuchi

Plot: When an alien invasion sparks off a zombie outbreak, there is only one group that can save the world: Guitar Wolf.

Review: Have you ever heard of Guitar Wolf? If you haven't...you should probably look them up, they're this crazy Japanese Garage Punk band whose sole concern seems to be creating the loudest and most insane rock music out there. Wild Zero fits into their style perfectly, filled with blood, violence and rock. There is also a weird romance subplot that has its own weird off kilter finally. Sure its not the best thing out there, but its entertaining in its own crazy campy way.

I don't even know what that is...though I do know of another manga based Japanese film that starts with a "u".

Uzumakiposter.jpg

Title: Uzumaki
Year: 2000
Country of Origin: Japan
Director: Higuchinsky

Plot: A small Japanese town is invaded by spirals...yes spirals.

Review: All around, this is a pretty mediocre film. Sure I know there are a good number of people who absolutely love this film, but for me its just meh. The plot is the main issue. Having a small down invaded by a malevolent force is a great set up for a horror film. I think my main issue with Uzumaki is that it lacks a narrative drive, it doesn't feel like we're heading for an end game. The film just get weirder and weirder and weirder and then it ends without a sense of resolution or completion. My recommendation, skip it.

Just happen to see The Watch and was wondering if you ever saw it... Yeah went in not knowing what the movie was about and yeah... Not the greatest but had me going at a few bits.

have you seen this one? I thought it was pretty good. Not often do you get a "horror/thriller" with no nudity, cussing, heads being chopped off, ect.

I almost thought he did one for this one.

Just saw End of Watch which I would recommend watching. When it comes out on DvD.

Some of the way they did things irked me but over all I really enjoyed the movie and flow of it.

I've seen maybe the first half hour or so, but for one reason or another I turned off the film.

Part of me really wanted to see it, but another part of me is just tired of David Ayer making films about the LAPD.

Lincoln_2012_Teaser_Poster.jpg

Title: Lincoln
Year: 2012
Country of Origin: US
Director: Steven Spielberg

Plot: It's about Lincoln, I mean what did you think it was about? The political battle of getting the 13th amendment passed through the house of representatives? Seriously, come on.

Review: Count me as pleasantly surprised about Lincoln. For the ad campaign I pictured a film about showing Civil War battles followed up with scenes of Lincoln sitting in darkened room pondering whether it was all worth it to his half crazed wife. So good thing that the film is about the ratification of the 13th amendment. Its a story that's fascinating and thankfully Spielberg & company did a fantastic job telling this story.

Speaking of fantastic jobs, Daniel Day-Lewis...that's all I really need to say about his portrayal of Lincoln...he is Daniel Day-Lewis, of course he is fantastic. Same goes for most of the massive cast of characters. My only issue with the cast was Jared Harris as Grant, though that is probably because I just rewatched season 1 of Fringe so its weird seeing him with an American accent. Also Sally Fields is fantastic as Mary Todd Lincoln, she manages to carry the characters craziness in a believable way.

The camera work is pure Spielberg, each shot is expertly set up and executed. Seriously, you can say what you want about Spielberg's choices of films he wants to direct, but man is still on of the best directors working today. Sure the film is sappy, a little obvious, and manipulative, but despite all that Lincoln is still a film worth watching.

I said it before and I'll say it again.
I'd recommend Princess Mononoke. Wonderful film done by Hayao Miyazaki back in '97. Kind of an environmental message(not as bad as Nausicca of the Valley of the Wind), but still a very well done movie. The localization was done greatly and I do recommend you give it a look

yeah...yeah...yeah. I'll get around to them eventually. Key word is eventually. I mean I have this French noir film from netflix that's been sitting on my night stand for the better part of 3 months. Also I still need to get through all of Berlin Alexanderplatz, which is something like 15 hours long. That thing just sits on a bookshelf looking down on me with disapproval and disdain every time I pass by the damn thing.

Title: The Kingdom
Year: 1994-1997
Country of Origin: Denmark
Created By: Lars von Trier

Plot: Something is rotten in Rigshospitalet (a hospital in Denmark).

Review: Yes, this is a TV Show from Denmark. Yes, I am going to review it anyway because for some reason more than a few film critics have reviewed this one...so why the hell not.

The best description for this show is that its Twin Peaks meets General Hospital. The show has a pitch perfect mix of personal drama mixed with just some of the weird I've ever seen in a TV show. That pretty much all you need to know about this show. Other than there was suppose to be a third season, but it was cancelled because two of the actors died of old age. Still, you should watch The Kingdom. Its incredibly entertaining and all the characters are really well done. The acting is top notch with the late Ernst-Hugo J?reg?rd putting out an absolutly delightful performance.

Now, yes this show was created by and directed by Lars Von Trier, which is probably why some many film critics want to treat this as a film. The direction and the technical aspects of the production are all very good. This is easily my favorite thing that Lars Von Trier has done and I would argue his best work. Possibly because it isn't dripping with pretension.

This is 8 hours of subtitles and for some this is asking a lot, but if you have the time and if you are feeling adventurous...give this one a shot.

* Yes, I'm aware that there is an American remake penned by Stephen King. It sucks and you should avoid it at all costs.
