Article ITT I attempt to review every movie I've seen.

I saw Manchester by the Sea the other night. Casey Affleck's performance was stellar. I aim to hit up la la land this week, and hopefully Silence by the end of next. I want to witness good Mr. Scorsese's passion project while it is still in theaters.

What's your watch list for 2017 looking like? My sure things are John Wick 2, Blade Runner 2049, Star Wars 8, Logan, T2: Trainspotting, Guardians of the Galaxy v2, Alien: Covenant, Spider-Man, Dunkirk, Valerian and the city of a thousand planets, the dark tower, and Kingsman 2... and ah, who the hell am I kidding, I'll be seeing the new pirates of the Caribbean.

Throw in Ghost in the Shell and Justice league and you pretty much got my lineup. Definitely gonna be a good year for movies, although most of them are just sequels (like normal).

Also holy crap i forgot a new kingsman is coming out. Im excited now.

Man, I really need to get around to seeing this years crop of Oscar movies. Instead, I have been plowing into Miyazaki filmography. In the last two weeks I've seen five of his films and it's been pretty awesome so far.

As far as 2017 goes, I think I have finally hit my limit for superhero movies. Outside of Guardians of the Galaxy, the whole genre to me has become a deep howling void of mediocrity. I think it was probably Batman v. Superman that finally convinced me that I just need to stop.

Anyway my watch list:

John Wick: Chapter Two
Blade Runner 2049
Kingsman The Golden Circle
Untitled Cloverfield Movie
Murder on the Orient Express - Directed by Kenneth Branagh so it should be fun
The Six Billion Dollar Man - I loved the director's last film so it might be good...but probably not
American Made
Baby Driver - Edgar Wright is back!!!
Dunkirk
The Dark Tower
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
The Belko Experiment - James Gunn wrote this, should be awesome
The Snowman - Tomas Alfredson is always a reason to get excited

Hey Sexy, I apologize for the delay in my posts. I just learned that the council had done an apparent overhaul of the system. Needless to say, I had to reset my password, but im back on now. So I recently watched Ip Man & noticed that you havent reviewed it yet. Would like permission to review it. It was actually really good (& oddly enough, based on a true story).

It's alright man, you don't actually have an obligation to post in this thread. Anyway, yeah go right ahead and review it.

Title: Superman IV: The Quest for Peace
Year: 1987
Country of Origin: US
Director: Sidney J. Furie

Plot: Superman is guilted into throwing all of the world's nuclear weapons into the sun.

Review: This movie is somehow it's more of an enjoyable watch than both Man of Steel and Batman Vs. Superman: The Dawn of Justice. Of course that doesn't mean that this is a good movie, this thing was done on the cheap with a rushed production and an ending that was forged out of the panic that a film crew experiences when they have run out of money. Still there is a lot of fun to be had here, this is film that definitely earns the 'it's so bad it's good' moniker. Between the bad effects, garbled story, and goofy dialog; it's the kind of film that's best appreciated with a group of friends and maybe a beer or two.

The first episode of FX's Legion is better than the whole of fox's X-men series. You should probably check it out.

I just watched this last night and I can't disagree on this.

Fox's X-men series is notable for being some of the forerunners of today's super hero genre movies. Without the success of X-Men and X2, I doubt we'd be seeing the big budget Marvel moves that we have today. They don't hold up as well as some of the MCU movies that have come out since, but they still deserve some respect for forging a path for the rest of the genre, IMHO. And they are better than the more recent X movies...

However, Legion looks like it's going to be reaaaaaallllyyy good. The first episode had a level of cinematography, writing and overall polish not often seen in genre TV shows. I am very optimistic to see how it plays out.

Title: Roar
Year: 1981
Country of Origin: US
Director: Noel Marshall

Plot: Roar!

Review: On a very basic level, Roar is a middling family drama with a message about wildlife conservation. It never had a theatrical release in America, and would have probably been forgotten if not for one major reason: the film co-stars over 100 big cats. I'm talking lions, tigers, leopards, cheetahs, cougars, and jaguars...and by co-star, I mean the cast and crew are almost constantly surrounded by these big cats. The result is almost unnerving, especially considering that most of the cast and crew sustained injuries throughout filming...some of which were serious. For example, Jan de Bont, who would go on to direct Speed, had his scalp ripped off by a lion. In fact, the log line that Drafthouse Film's used for the film's release declared this "the most dangerous movie ever made." Despite all of this, the mediocre plot ultimately drags down the experience. Ultimately, the film feels both equal parts audacious and dull. There is some fun to be had, especially if you see it with some friends, but the film just grows tiresome after the first 20 minutes or so. I would recommend it just for the experience...and not a whole lot else.

Hey everyone! I'm not dead! If you want to see more reviews, the post here...in this thread. If not, then that's cool too.

Title: Atomic Blonde
Year: 2017
Country of Origin: Germany/US
Director: David Leitch

Plot: Some spies chase a mcguffin around Berlin.

Review: The marketing for Atomic Blonde could be best summed up as: lady John Wick with at least one excellent action sequence in the film.

Given that this David Leitch?s follow up to John Wick, the attempt to draw some sort of connection is not all that surprising. Let?s get this straight through; if you are looking for something in the same vein to John Wick, you might want to look elsewhere. Atomic Blonde is very much a spy film first and it comes with all the confused plotting and bloated pacing that you would expect from the sub-genre. The plot follows the standard tropes of the spy fiction with missing NOC lists and double agents to uncover. You?ve probably seen everything here done before and definitely better. The lone bright spot is James McAvoy?s character David Percival; a disillusioned British agent embedded in Berlin who seems to have lost interest in both basic morality and duty to his nation. Honestly, I would have preferred if the film was just his character grappling with the end of the Cold War and the end of his relevancy?something almost touched upon in the actual film.

Speaking of performances, Charlize Theron is fantastic. I mean her character is a little bland, but she is great. This along with Mad Max: Fury Road has made Charlize a legitimate action star. As far as the action goes, the one scene used over and over again the marketing is excellent. It plays out over a ?single-take? and carries with it the type of visceral umph seen in John Wick and The Raid. Unfortunately the action scenes are few and can?t quite make up for the film?s weaknesses.

There is also one more thing I want to comment on and that is the film?s setting. I?m officially tired of the 80s pastiche that has shown up in the last five or so years. Atomic Blonde takes place what could have been an interesting setting?Berlin just days before the fall of the wall, but doesn?t explore much deeper than 80s pop hits and a weird fixation on Berlin?s punk movement. Occasionally the film does something interesting with its setting, like a fight taking place in an Eastern Berlin theater showing a revival of Stalker, but as a whole feels hollow.

Overall, the film is watchable and does feature some great action sequences?but in the end it is undone by its mediocre plot and bloated pacing.
