Hello,

Your guys probably wonder why i make so many threads in the Tech Help forum,
well, just becaus my computer suck:)
Now i wanna upgrade to windows 7, becaus i've got it onces a long time ago but when i installed it i got blue screens, not just 1, but like 5 different one i think.

Anyway, I wanna try it again now, but i wanna make sure i dont get blue screens again and i have the right software.

I have the a690gm2ma-8krs2h motherboard, but there are no windows 7 drivers for it, will this work with the windows vista drivers?

I also have the Linksys WMP54G internet adaptor (wireless), and there are also no drivers for windows 7. What should i do to get this fixed in windows 7?

Thanks,

BlackBird.

What kind of motherboard is it? All i see is gibberish there :s

You can always go on the microsoft website, and it will scan your PC and tell you if drivers will be missing

I have this motherboard: a690gm2ma-8krs2h. Past it in google and you see it.
And that scan doesnt say anything about my motherboard.

Dude.... i ran the program and it says nothing about my motherboard. But it says something about my linksys card. So we're back at my first post again; do windows vista drivers work?

Windows vist and windows 7 drivers are 2 very different things.... :o

So its questionable. Maybe just use wired?

I know it are 2 different things, but for many things vista drivers work for windows 7. And i can't use wireless, to far away and dont have the money to buy something else:)

For the wireless drivers, check if the manufacturers site has them

I'm not that dumb isimon I already cheched the site and they don't have the drivers like I said in my first post.

And sniper and sniper:), thanks.
This are my system specs:

and athlon x2 64 4200+ 2.4 ghz
sapphire HD 4870 1gb ddr5
2gb kinston memory in dual channel.
Motherboard name is in first post

I'm off to bed now:)

Vista drivers could possibly work in windows 7. I have downloaded my soundcard drivers for vista 64 and they work fine. 7 is just a re-worked version of Vista pretty much.

Many Windows Vista drivers work well under Windows 7 without any workarounds needed. In fact, I would go as far as saying most if not all WHQL certified Vista drivers will work without issues. It's largely the same OS underneath (Vista - 6.0, Win7 - 6.1).

Both the Motherboard and Wireless card have Vista drivers available, so it's definitely worth a try. If it doesn't work, call the manufacturers and see if they have any future plans to release a Windows 7 compatible driver. If not, then it may be time to upgrade, if you really want/need to run Windows 7.

Windows vista drivers all worked perfectly in my experience with windows 7 beta, RC, and release. Well, except for tages security drivers, but that was tages' fault.

Install the vista drivers, see if they work. If they dont, roll back.

+1

The drivers for Vista should be the same or very similar as for 7.

There where very few core kernel changes between the two, and although greatly improved, its largely vista yet.

The Kernal changes from XP to vista are what caused the awful support early on in Vista's life cycle.
