From what I've seen on this thread, there seems to be a lot of K-On! fans. I'm not familiar at all w/ the show other than it looks to have a Haruhi-esque type quality to the animation.

Anyone have an opinion of what it's about or what it's like from their own perspective?

But yes this anime is very good, it has everything!

Hey all. I already have a lot of anime that has been recommended, or that I have on my "to watch" list, but as I have limited time, I was hoping for some suggestions on what to start up next.

Here are some lists of what I've seen, and what's been recommended.

My "Anime – Started & Completed" List:
  • .hack// Sign (P)
  • Chobits
    [*]Clannad
    [*]Clannad After Story
[*]Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion
[*]Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2
    [*]Death Note
[*]Dance in the Vampire Bund (C)
  • Dragon Ball
  • Dragon Ball GT
  • Dragon Ball Z
    [*]Elfen Lied
    [*]Full Metal Alchemist
  • Gantz
    [*]Hellsing
  • Kurokami The Animation
    [*]Lucky Star
  • Needless
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion (P)
  • Shugo Chara
  • Shugo Chara Doki
  • The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (P)
    [*]The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
  • To Love-Ru (P)
    [*]Toradora!
  • Valkyria Chronicles
Bolded entries are the ones I enjoyed most. (P), Partial; (C), Current

My "Anime – Recommended (To Watch)" List:

  • [*]Bakemonogatari
  • Berserk
    [*]Blood+
  • CANAAN
    [*]Cowboy Bebop
  • Cross Game
    [*]D.Gray-man
  • Darker Than Black
    [*]Ergo Proxy
    [*]Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
[*]Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
  • Kanon (2006)
  • Macross (Frontier/Zero)
    [*]Neon Genesis Evangelion
  • Outlaw Star
    [*]Rurouni Kenshin
  • Soul Eater
  • The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
  • The Familiar of Zero
Bolded entries are either ones that came highly recommended, or ones I have the most interest in seeing.

Overall I prefer anime that has a (semi) concise story to tell. It should be able to get it's point across in around 50-60 episodes, or less. That said, I'm pretty open towards any kind of genre. I especially love Political Dramas or Psychological Trillers (al a Death Note, Code Geass), but I'll give any anime a shot, given it has a good story to tell (not just moe-blob).

So given the above, any ideas on where to start? Does anyone have any further recommendations given the above lists?

Thanks. :)

Gankutsuou (The Count of Monte Cristo) was a good suspense show.

Altho it was around 70-73 eps, Monster is also a good mystery/psychological thriller.

Those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head...

Also, Mushi-shi is an excellent one to watch.

A sleeper that I really enjoyed was Kino no Tabi.

i just watched episodes 1-7 of K-ON! and i love it!! heh, the beginning was so boring but it got really good in the later episodes. =D

Beta i just watched all the toradora episodes in the span of 2 days :E
I'm a romance comedy anime addict. Or maybe it is just life comedy in general. I won't know that til I start watching K-on! For some reason I keep meaning to start that but get distracted.

....... I'm so hopeless
