Anime Official Anime/Manga Thread

Black Rock Shooter anime starts in a couple of days. Really excited for this, personally anyway. If you guys haven't checked out the series yet, you should try to watch the OVA. Gonna leave this as a place holder for my thoughts for after I watch it. :)

Edit: So just watched the episode not that long ago, I personally liked it. I think it has a good balance in each world, but I still like the OVA better, but it is still the first episode. There is always potential.

Didn't see the OVA (Caco, how could you?!??) but the anime is just a psychological mind-distorting (well, something else but can't use that phrase here) like Gantz and Gai-Rei. So, a must watch.

Mouretsu Pirates- going to finish the show. Even if I have to force myself to watch some parts of it, Marika makes the show.

Symphogear- so much potential, and it has all gone to waste. I couldn't watch past the third episode without skipping sections (that bad) so I'm just going to drop it.

DxD- fills the ecchi slot. Terribly cliche, terrible plot, terrible character design (comeon, limits. I don't want/appreciate another Queen's Blade line of characters, that is just too far and this is bordering on it. Perhaps I'm just bittervetting about recent anime trends in general but really there needs to be a limit to the bust sizes, and that's about as far as I'll go here.). Don't know why I haven't dropped it yet, I'm finding myself wanting to skip through most of the episode to get to the "good part" where the plot actually makes sense/their humor is appreciated.

Hunter x Hunter- I love it. Haven't seen the original, and it sure smells like a Naruto/Bleach, but even those shows were amazing before they turned into franchises, even if they were meant for the age 10+ group. Until the filler starts I'm keeping up on this one.

As to the rest of this season's released shows I can't make a decision yet.

EDIT: Beelzebub is still going? Will look into that.

Caco I noticed Inu x Boku wasn't on your list. Haven't checked it out yet? Or just not interested? I remember first reading about it, I wasn't excited for it, but a friend of mine told me how good it was so I decided to give it a shot, and it was something.
 
Oh how could I forget that? Inu X Boku is indeed quite good- normally I don't go for the loli shows at all but this one is something. +1 for Inu \o/.
 
So I am trying to get a friend of mine into some good anime, and after explaining what a harem was they want some good shows in that genre. Do you guys have any ideas? I was thinking of IS: Infinite Stratos as a good one to start off with.

"Negima!" (Negima!? does not follow the original plot line): Same guy who did Love Hina, but with a different story type...and MANY more girls (30+ vs the 5-6 in Love Hina).

Ranma 1/2: Martial Arts and harem comedy!

Tenchi Muyo, Tenchi Universe (Avoid Tenchi in Tokyo like the plague): The epitome of the harem anime...and one that many people started their anime watching careers on.

If you're ok with some, shall we say, adult themes: Golden Boy

Love Hina, Love Hina Again (parts 1 and 2): The main Love Hina series doesn't always stick to Akamatsu's manga, but the two Love Hina again movies bring it into canon and showcase Akamatsu's drawing style (vs the Love Hina series being drawn in a different style).

I could keep going for days....Just let me know if you need more....

Ok. So it's just a completely random story that happens somewhere during the events of Brotherhood.
Because we totally needed to know it.
 
I will say, I am very impressed with how Shakugan no Shana III is going. If you have not checked it out but have seen the other two seasons, I highly suggest you do so. I personally feel there is just so much more in this season than the second.
 
I'm into Reborn, K-On, One Piece, H.O.T.D., Sekirei and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Does anyone have some good slice of life harems or fantasy harems they'd like to recommend?

There are others...but that is the one I'm most familiar with.

I heard the Black Lagoon dub was supposed to be very well done, I personally haven't seen it, but if someone can confirm this... :o
