Virus horror/war stories

I'm just now, after about 6-8 hours of work, getting rid of the XP security center rouge software virus. I'm not sure how I got it, but it snuck in somehow. This is the second time I've gotten it, and the first time was far easier due to the fact that I could install anti-malware software to help me fight it. It has since learned to delete the .exe file associated with all programs that threaten it. I finally tried renaming the installer file, the installed file etc. and nothing was working until I tried, in the split second it was there, to rename the .exe file name for malwarebytes anti-malware, and sure enough, it's working it's way through the problem now.


How bout you guys? Any other good virus fighting stories out there?

Your antivirus isn't working properly. I have never gotten a virus while running Avast!.

The worst virus I have ever gotten was W32:CIH, and that wasn't my fault. Yamaha shipped out a CD with the virus on the CD. It wiped out everything.
