The item drop system changed today. For starters:

Instead of getting an item every 30 minutes or so, it now roll on WHEN you get the next item. So it should fix those, like me, who go a while without getting a thing.

The rate has increased a lot

There's a max limit of play time. Playing an hour or for the whole day will get you items and so will those who play on and off.

Which means if anyone here idles, they'll end up getting fewer items than before.

Idlers will still get just as much as players. Just when their supply of items, for that time they decided runs out, that will be it.

people that idle aren't doing it because they like to idle, they do it because they like playing TF2.

ok, after reading that it doesn't make sense.

fail

lol :P, now I won't have my massive dry streaks with no items :). I gave up on idling because I idled two days in a row non-stop and got... A (ONE, SINGULAR) Kritzkrieg.

This is great, now people will have to EARN their stuff

soooo....idlers will still get the same amount as people who actually have to sit at the computer and play? In other words...while idlers are out in rl having a great time, they will still earn the same amount of items...as people who decide to waste their time and play? iknowiruineverything :d

But that's not the point of the update :3, the point is..everyone has an equal chance now :d

FINALLY!!!! /hug valve! I go weeks without receiving one single item...

I have gone for about a month without an item sure it may have been February but still.

This makes me happy, since I am sick of never getting items and I do not want to idle.

That's really low. You might have lost connection to the server during that time. Otherwise, youfail.org ???

Says the guy who had TF2 for like what, 3 days?

You don't earn a random drop.

says the guy who plays CS:S but jumps in TF2 to idle.

*ducks...ninja rolls...does a handstand with no hands......backflips out the window*

*pats pepper on the back* Don't worry... we'll get 'em next time.... We'll get 'em *epic glare*...

I have 3420.9 Hours in TF2 total. 1000 of those hours were earned by actually playing (before hats). I think I know what I'm talking about when it comes to idling.

People cried about idling because it gave some sort of "unfair advantage". I'd like to see this advantage because last time I checked the weapon unlocks were sidegrades, not upgrades. And hats do not change any stats to a specific character.

I can see where Valve's coming from. Achievement_Idle was the most played map in the TF2 universe for a good 3 months. Thats something that no game developer would want to see. But to say that your drop (as a player) was earned and my drop (as an idler) is lesser of yours is a huge insult.

Whatever, haters gonna hate. I'll own 18 hats and I'm close to a 19th hat. I hope every hatless rager who reads my post sees me in game wearing a tower of hats and rage even more. Its funny to me

but....I did a handstand with no hands :crying:

edit: I only poke fun because idling or no idling, hats or pointless and only a cosmetic item introduced by the developers of Barbie Playhouse Hat Fortress 2. I could care less who has what hat or how they got it. I have 3 hats btw.
