Raving? Nah. I prefer a nice quite atmosphere where I can just watch the sunset or listen to some slow or Hawaiian-type music, and then just fall asleep like a baby.

Plenty of people across a broad spectrum of musical genres partake in "recreational pharmacology" and while I don't myself to slam an entire genre of music based on a portion of that music's audience (however large or small that portion is) seems like a narrow minded way of thinking.

Also to be a kill joy the person who started this thread wasn't asking for people's opinions on raving/rave culture but seemed merely interested in touching base with individuals who shared his enjoyment in it...I think its such a shame when people get lambasted just for politely inquiring.

I'll finish here, while some people enjoy opera, rock, blues, a capella, pop, DnB, RnB, Dubstep, Country Western, Show tunes etc now days people are much less restricted to one or two genres, almost everyone has broader tastes in music and a lot of people if you ask them "what music do you like" will simply say "a bit of everything I suppose". Try to be more open minded and a little bit less judgemental?

Ok well I will say 2 things here:

#1: Ledzo wanted to know what a raver is. I will try to answer that to the best that I can so that Ledzo as well as others can understand the concept. A raver is a person who typically goes to clubs or festivals (majority of it is in clubs) where they generally play electronica music (ranging from techno to trance to drum & bass to house, etc) & they dance to the music how they feel. Now the thing is spotting a raver is not as simple as you may think. They can be anyone from your typical man or woman wearing standard club partying clothes going out to party & have a great time to people wearing necklaces, bracelets (made of glow in the dark beads) as well as those plastic things that babies typically suck on when theyre infants (sorry cant think of the specific name) and wearing anything from tank tops to baggy pants (some still wear baggy pants, but that trend was big back in the late 90's). Also a raver usually has an array of glow sticks of multiple colors with them, which can range from 1 stick all the way up to 4 sticks (most people go with 3 sticks for the big effect). Also using certain bicycle equipment is possible. Anything pretty much that blinks or flashes in the dark will do. There are plenty of websites out there that allow you to purchase various kinda of gitd or flashing items for clubs or festival. Also there are pictures that are available all over the internet that people take of people using glow sticks to make effects that words cant express. They are what is known as "light shows". These shows use a form of dancing known as poi. Anyways, ill stop right there on that. Feel free to do more research on all of what I have talked about if you wish. I am right now in the process of working on a book talking about this lifestyle as well. It is nowhere near being completed just so you guys know, but I do hope to work on it more during the summer.

#2: I also do feel that this thread is getting a lil heated due to people's opinions and feel that it should be locked up immediately before people get outta hand. Just my suggestion.

Thanks for definition pillar , I think I can't consider myself as a raver , because I spend most of my time in front of books, for the moment , but I used to do many clubs , techno festivals , things like that

I listen to more electronic/dubstep/house music but I do listen to techno frequently....as well as all the other genres of music too. But I live in SC and I don't think there is too many places/people around here that would be suitable for raving.

Only time i've ever raved was at my college (CofC) which was only like 500 people or so. It was during our finals week in december and I actually just went to the one this semester yesterday!!! woohooo

....too bad it only lasted for about 15 minutes
