trouble with steam all of the sudden

i downloaded RnL today and steam made me download "source SDK base" before i could play it...now when i play DOD...i get enough playing time for 30 kills or so and get kicked out with the following error message:

"A connection to the Steam VAC servers could not be made."

any suggestions?

What is RnL?

The generic fix would be this:

Try closing steam, going into your root steam folder (*//Program Files//Steam) then deleting a file called ClientRegistry.blob

This will make steam refresh it's content and will ask you to log in again (even if you had save password on).

Try that first.

well....that didnt work out too well...now its saying that my account isnt valid and is puttin me through the ringer to get back into it...ive emailed steamsupport to try finding a solution to the problem...

SDK is the engine which is needed for RnL to run. Allow it to install, and it should be good.

As for the Connection failure, it might be your firewall blocking it, although it'd be weird if you suddenly started to have the issue. Trying playing tomorrow and see if you still get the error. VAC servers might have been acting up.

i didnt have problems with the connection until after i installed the SDK thing...now i have a bigger problem...cant access my steam account at all...sent email to steam...still havent heard a peep outta them

Reinstall steam and go threw some password recovery so you can log back in.

i tried the pw recovery but the "secret answer" to the question they ask doesnt work cause ive never had my pw reset...
