Stop your computer from auto-restarting after updating

See this for an idea of what I'm talking about.

Have you ever been in the middle of playing a game and your computer restarts out of the blue because it finished updating? Ever get frustrated when it does so? I have a solution for you.

1. First, make sure you are at the desktop.
2. Then, press your <windows key> + R to bring up the Run dialog box.
3. Type gpedit.msc into the dialog box and press Enter.
4. A window will appear labeled 'Local Group Policy Editor.'
5. In the left-hand side, expand the following tabs: Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update.
6. Click on Windows Update.
7. One of the settings is labeled "No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations"
8. Double-click on this, click the radio button next to Enabled, and click OK. Close the policy editor window.
9. You're done. From now on, Windows will prompt you to restart instead of restarting automatically.

• Other things to modify in the Windows Update GP folder
• "Reprompt for restart with scheduled installations"
• Double-click on this, set to enabled, in the "Wait the following period before prompting again with a scheduled restart (minutes)" box, change this to 1440.
• After the computer has prompted you once to restart and you tell it to wait, it will wait 24 hours before asking again.

Or you could always click "postpone for x number of minutes" in the restart window.
