suddenly no sound???

hey all, i have a problem and...this is it:

last night i was playing TF2 all fine and happy and sunflowers blooming and rose pedals floating through the air, everything was happy and pristine.

then this morning i turned on TF2 i didn't put on my headset or anything and i tried going into Valvemaps. i got in and i noticed something amiss...i couldn't hear ANYTHING! i tried messing with the settings and under audio in options it didn't have an audio device set, i set it to headphones it still didn't work, i unplugged my headset and my speakers didn't pick up anything either.

i have the same problem with L4D2.

and i know my headphones and speakers are working, i watched a youtube video just now to confirm...can anyone please help me?

EDIT: now sound in Youtube isn't working, it worked like, an hour ago >.> wierd, gonna try my computers sound settings see what happens

Hi, Doomcat.

Have you tried to reinstall your audio drivers?
If the card is onboard, have you recently touched anywhere near the Bridges or where the onboard chip is?
If it is offboard, have you tried to reposition the card?

Edit: Also check your computer for malicious intrusions, since you say you know your headphones work.

Maybe you lowered the game volume. Type volume in console, what is the value?
