I remember those old days where we would spend hours (which ended up being full days) trying to "turn" an arcade machine or arcade game of wits. Of course they did not feature on my determination and patience, virtues that have kept me get a little more than half of a 1942 or just near the end of a Kung Fu Master.

Patience is key to achieving these milestones, and seems to be what was left (besides "time?) To California 56 Mike Leyden, record the most popular game of the century according to the Guinness Book of Records: Bejewled.

Just two months ago, Bejeweled age of 10, and met some amazing numbers, but at the same time we also sets the standard that has not been a miracle of nature that a 56 year old man check points and 2147 billion managed to leave the score in negative numbers, a sign that the game has come to an end because it can no longer count score thereafter.

Mike Leyden, of Riverside, California, spent 2205 hours (the equivalent of playing for eight hours a day, five days a week for a year) to achieve the record to get to level 439, when it achieved one of combos that allowed him to turn the Bejeweled 2.

The CTO and co-founder of PopCap, Brian Fiete explains why I never imagined that someone overcome this score:

The highest score of the game is able to calculate is 2,147,483,647, that's 2 to the 31st power minus 1. We had to give the game a sort of high score display and thought it was high enough so that no one exceeded those points. As the game code was not designed to show a negative number, where the score should be left a blank space!

The popular game of diamonds has been downloaded 50 million times since 2004, 74% of its players are female and 72% over 35 years.
