Tech guys, it seems im having some issues with keeping my cpu and to a lesser extent, my gpu under control. I've downloaded speedfan to watch my temperatures, and while idling they are pretty much under control.

My GPU averages 40c, and all 4 cpu cores are about 30-40c at idle. So im told those are running good, but the problem is I cant play GTA 4 or TF2 10 minutes before things start getting bad visually, as well as speedfan telling me temperatures are rising 10-15c for everything.

I air-sprayed things out yesterday, and I noticed things improved a bit, but im starting to think that I didnt spray the cpu fan good enough.

Any advise appreciated, and if you need more information, ask.

Thanks.

How many fans do you have in your case? I have 5 fans (3x120mm and 2x140mm) and my CPU hits about 40c after playing crysis and using many Virtual Machines. Right now just browsing it sits at 29c. My GPU sits in mid 40c idle and after crysis it can get to about 60c tops.

55 load isn't that high for a CPU, i would not worry about that.

nVidia GPUs max out at 100c, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Is your GTX260 over clocked?

My GTX isn't overclocked, and I am using stock fans and CPU cooler. I'll have to see how the rest of the week goes and then will problably have to get new fans.

Thanks.

Go ahead and grab a new CPU cooler (30-40$ gets you a pretty decent one) If your not big on computer sound, get something with higher cfm, but good reviews. As for fans, xigmatek has nice fans I think. I bought 2x140 xigmatek that have an orange fan blades and a white LED that adds a nice amber glow (getting used to seeing blue so much). Also, grab some Artic5 Thermal paste. They work better than stock thermal paste and will probably cool your CPU temp by about 5c.

You'll probably end up spending 90$.
