Integrated Laptop GPU?

Anyone play on an integrated laptop graphics card? I'm lookin for a laptop that is able to play TF2 ~30fps or more. This will give me an idea of what I need to get, or get something better than.

with the current laptop specs, you shouldn't have a problem playing with most of the integrated cards.

The intel GMA integrated cards tend to have poorer performance for gaming than ATI's or Nvidia's. Make sure that you get one that has dedicated memory so you don't sap your resources when playing!

He's never going to get a round a stable 30 fps with a integrated card. Either look for a nice laptop with a dedicated GPU or play tf2 with insane fps configs.

Of course a dedicated GPU is going to cost more, but meh.

You may even get a message when you start up TF2 that says "Your computer's hardware doesn't support this game" or something like that.

Because I get that when I try to run TF2 on my laptop.

I'm running on a nVidia 8400 equipped Dell XPS 1530 and It runs it fine with generally good FPS, course it can't stand anti-aliasing though.

Except for intel's and the other manufacturers lower end ones, they can generally hold their own. Unfortunantly, with the recent updates they really need to do more than they used to. If you get one with dedicated memory, it should work better than one that only shares system memory.

i play on a laptop using a nvidea gtx260 or something like that, get 60+ fps regularly.

I've got an ATI HD 4200 in mine, and it works great. Looks awful, directX 8.1, but I get 40/50+ FPS on Blackmesa regularly.

Most of the integrated cards are pretty much their to run things like flash games..lol

All the people posting on about their laptops have dedicated graphics cards, 4200m etc are mobile graphics cards but not integrated.

Integrated cards struggle on the sims 2..

I'm running on an integrated card on my laptop at 30 fps. I've got an ATI Radeon HD 3200 integrated with 4GB of RAM on a 64-bit AMD Turion dual-core. Two years ago it was at ~$1000.

Note, I'm also not running at full detail graphics. I've got it on lower resolution with a lower texture setting and no anti-aliasing and it's still overheating but 30 fps is 30 fps. Also, I've got a pretty sick internet connection for a dorm that helps. (I used to average 9 ping to Dallas servers while being ~200 miles away).

EDIT: I'm also running on Vista still, and it's gotta be the second most common virus on PC besides Norton/Symantec.

Honestly, playing games isn't the biggest deal for my laptop. I just want something that could play a little bit if I have spare time. I have a gaming desktop at home for all of my hardcore needs.

Honestly, playing games isn't the biggest deal for my laptop. I just want something that could play a little bit if I have spare time. I have a gaming desktop at home for all of my hardcore needs.

Integrated video is there so you don't have a headless PC/laptop and to save money vs dedicated video. Saying it's there for "flash games" is pretty much... um... no.

It was just an example, just saying that they are there for people that just do the basics and dont need dedicated gpu power for any applications, not that its main purpose was to run browser games.

My Lenovo T500 has an ATI-3650; it's a little older than a lot of the current laptop GPUs but plays games like TF2, DOD, CS:S just fine.

The acer is pretty nice, it actually has a dedicated mobility card and not fully integrated.

And XO, he has a mobile video card which is technically not integrated so it dosen't share with the motherboard. His video card scored 7.5k on 3dmark 05 while a integrated intel card got 700.
