Hopefully this will help some people out. I saw this thread "In-Game Lag" and this is mostly in response to that thread (created a new one so more of you could see this). I personally don't use this config, but if you are having serious problems with fps/ping issues - you may want to consider it. This is what many players use in Caleague who don't have capable video cards for their matches and this is a competition legal config. For those of you who are getting more than 60 fps right now, and don't have fps/ping issues - don't bother using this config; this config will take away from some of the quality of the game/hints that you get at higher graphics levels and is not necessary if you have a decent video card (Nvidia GeForce 7800 or higher / Ati Radeon 800).
This is the zip file you will need:
http://fragdods.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=48&func=startdown&id=3
The zip file comes with a readme on instructions on how to install and run the config correctly. I HIGHLY suggest everyone reads it.
For those that don't want to download the zip file and such below is what is inside the two files which are in the zip file.
The Readme.
+=+=+=+=INSTALLING+=+=+=+=
Put the "fps.cfg" file into your "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\YOURUSERNAME\day of defeat source\dod\cfg" Folder. The Location of this folder may be different on some computers but the main thing is that its put into your "\day of defeat source\dod\cfg" Folder.
After you done that set your "Config.cfg" file in that directory to READ ONLY! To do this right click on it and select properties then put a check mark into the Read Only Box. You do this just in case you don't like my config it won't overwrite your settings you had before. That way you can just delete my fps config and just load up your game and your settings will be back to what you had. But doing this will also make changes you do ingame not stay such as name changes after you close your DOD:s it will revert back to what it was.
Now after you done that, Load up Day of Defeat : Source open the console and type :
exec fps
<hit the enter key>
then do it again!!!!!!!
exec fps
<hit the enter key>
and now one more time!!!!
exec fps
<hit the enter key>
The reason you do this three is because it changes your Direct-X Level. And after it does that it doesn't do some of the commands in the fps config until you exec it twice. Once you do that load up a game and see if you fps has improved.
Also I note since your Config.cfg file is readonly you will have to do the exec fps twice thing, Everytime you load up your game.
+=+=+=+=OTHER+=+=+=+=
If you want you can rename my "fps.cfg" file to 'autoexec.cfg" and it will exec it everytime you load up the game. Or if you have an autoexec.cfg file with other stuff in it , You can just add my stuff from my fps.cfg file to your autoexec.cfg and save it.
If you do it this way I suggest checking atleast once after you do it this way to make sure it changes everything it should. To do this open your game it should autoexec. Now goto : (Options - Video - Advanced) Look in there and see if the current Direct-X Level is set to 8.1 and that everything about that should be set to low with maybe aa set to 2x. I still suggest typing exec autoexec.cfg once after you load the game if you set it as an autoexec to be safe.
If you have any problems you can just post on the DoD:S Hub forums, The GotFrag Forums or the CAL Forums and ask for help I will be able to help you if not me someone else will be able to. The links to these sites are at the bottom of the Readme.
ALSO IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT NOT RUNNING OR CRASHING YOU MAY WANT TO TRY AND TAKE OUT THE DIRECT-X SECTION IN THE FPS CONFIG FIRST!!!!!!!!!!
Below is the actual FPS.cfg file which is in the zip file.

PS: You can also try modifing other cvars as well (here's a full list - http://cs.rin.ru/forum/download.php?id=5774), but keep in mind - the above config is the bare for "competition legal" settings. If you screw up your settings and dods crashes/becomes buggy as a result, just delete your config files in the "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\YOURUSERNAME\day of defeat source\dod\cfg" Folder - the game will recreate them the next time you restart.
