Hey dude, sorry but we cant' see what's in your cart... you could try building it on newegg and sharing that list. That would be the best way to share I think.

Looks good, sans a few things.

First, lose the triple GTS 250's. Get a GTX 480 for just a little bit more, and you'll have a far better system. If this is close to the max of your budget, drop the processor from an i7 960 down to a 930. You can easily overclock it to 960 levels (and much higher)

Other than that. It looks pretty solid. Not sure I would have gotten that much RAM, but it's your money, not mine.

You seem to love Thermaltake, don't you?

my current rig is a 780i EVGA mobo running dual 9800GTX cards in an Antec 900mid-tower case - 2.4 quad at 2.8ghz.... I wanted a full tower this time and ThermalTake looked pretty nice.

Looking at the vid cards, I have to agree with you - the GTX 480 looks like a solid performer.

RAM wise - I want to run 64bit Win7 Premium.... this way I'll be able to fully utilize all the Physical RAM.

Matt.

Unless you're doing something very memory intensive, you will not need that much ram. I have 4GB, and there hasn't been a single time that I've maxed that out or it has become a limitation while playing games. There are programs out there that will use that amount of memory but no games currently or anytime soon for that matter. Just because Windows 7 64-bit can use that much memory doesn't mean you need it.

Here's what I recommend:

Ditch the 3 kits of dual channel memory and go with that set of triple channel memory. It's cheaper and more effective at what it's designed for.

I noticed the RAM issue not long before you brought it up -

switched it over to OCZ Obsidian trip channel 1600mhz

Good choice.

Still, why are you buying 12GB of RAM? 6GB is more than sufficient for 99% of programs on the market. It just seems like a waste of money to me.

It's a good system, but what makes it great, is the Anti-Static wrist strap. That makes this system pro.

And Mad, i have maxed out 8 gb's of RAM on my computer, it depends on what he is going to be running in the background. What exactly will you be running in the background while you game or what not?

Changing the i7 960 to a i7 930 or 920 is a lot more cost efficient.

The 960 and 930 (and 920) CPU chips are the same chips, so for a fast stock clock speed you're paying 300$ more. If you go with a 930, you can later over clock it to the same speeds as the 960 just fine (and with a AM heat sink like you have you'll be fine). With that extra 300$ you can buy a new monitor or another video card or pay a month of your electric bill a month ahead ( xD ).

I have a 920 @ 3.6GHz and it runs like a champ with my CM N520 heat sink. Runs pretty cool idling and under load (due to being in Oregon and two 70 RPM fans shooting the air out of my case).

updated the list with the new PSU - thanks for that reflex99

dropped CPU down to i7 930 - you guys are right, why pay more when I can just clock it later to at or above the 960

Careful with the Obsidian RAM, not saying its bad just haven't heard the best. I use OCZ RAM in all my systems and it goes great. You may want to consider some Corsair Dominator RAM to match that beautiful near $500 motherboard you have picked out. Dump the V8 for a Noctua D14 or another someone may recommend thats a bit more higher end. I use the Noctua se1366 and its awesome. Everything else looks sweeeeeet. LOVE the board, thats my next move - either or , any EVGA classified .

SSD FTW .

Agreed with others... unless you REALLY need 12GB of RAM, go for 6GB. Take the money you save and put in into getting a 160GB SSD instead of the 80GB one.

Drop the V8 and go for Venomous/Megahalem.

What kind of speakers/headset are you using? Does it justify the price of the soundcard?

On the note of 12GB RAM, tougher to overclock and keep stable . Alternatively to NCA's suggestion of getting a 160gb SSD, you get 2- 80's and RAID em for 500 + mb/s read speeds which is INSANE , though you lose trim support. Whatever you decide to do as far as SSD's, make sure you get the Intel's. Plus the price you have listed isn't half bad...

updated list for Noctua CPU cooler + Corsair RAM + Noctua SSO Case Fans

I have a good pair of noise canceling headphones - the sound card will do them justice

Your going to have a fun time trying to oc with 12 gigs of ram, if your just doing it for bragging rights id suggest you tone it down to 6. Unless you do more then just gaming and use really memory intensive programs.

Corsair Dominator Mr. Predator ? And which Noctua, the D14 or one of the U12s?

Noctua D14 cooler - - whats wrong with Corsair RAM... Im running OCZ 800 at 1000mhz in my current rig.. I like OCZ but figured why not try a different brand.
