Dust 2

The whole ranking things I dont think a lot of people pay close attention to it, for example me and my friends we just join random servers with people in it but then again thats just me and my friends =-) *creeps back into shadows* oh btw I support this idea of removing HLstats =D

Insurgency's game play isn't supposed to be about stats and kdr. It's supposed to be about teamwork. However, since that's all gone out the window, it doesn't matter to me. I type "rank" about as often as I type "!guns" which is growing increasingly rare.

Bottom line, I simply don't care.

I doubt the ranking will drop because not sure if you guys remember a few months back when hlstats was down for like 2 weeks people still played on the server. QUOTE]

This is true and people may acually help me cap B instaed of spawncamp at the crack and the box if they werent so worried about thier kdr.

1 person with an fal needs to be in the crack at least, to help plug the flow of marines incessantly martyring bravo.

Strange I wonder why the game was built with kdr in it then?
I've only been playing Ins since this year so I don't know if kdr was just added recently or what. I think rank matters why else do we have hlstats on all our servers? But you say you don't care so I will take that as A "Yes remove hlstats from dust"

I think that dust2 is a great server and we should not play
with it or we are going to loose it's rank. It's true that there are alot of dust2 servers out there rat would love the #1 spot. Also I think dust2 is for very good players that know the map by hard. If you don't want to loose points or ranks then stay out of dust. It is the total opposite for me I gain points in dust and never lost that much.

Ingame kdr works somewhat different then you'd expect.

e.g. If you kill someone who is capping, you get more points.

See this: (<--click me)
20 kills, 1 death, kdr 380...

Hell today i started to not care about the whole ranking system altogether its a hassle and i don't have as much fun when i drop 100 ranks so i think my rank is going to be extremely horrid from now on just for fun's sake. I haven't played in 4 days and i came back today and blew chunks lol. For people who are passionate about their scores going to the dust 2 server is a nightmare.

Personally, I couldn't care less about my hlstats score -- because of Dust2, it's pitifully low anyway.

I think that taking away HLStats, though, would turn off the score-watchers who continuously check their scores and spazz out if their rank drops below 100.

I don't really prefer playing on dust2 just because of the frag fest nature that doesn't really fit the picture of a more strategic mod like Insurgency, the HLStats point destruction is just icing on the cake.

But that's just me, and as was brought up, the server is number one, there just doesn't seem to be any reason to mess with something that's working. Certainly people still play on Dust2 when HLStats are down, but quite frankly, HLStats goes down on eGO servers with some fair regularity, so players always know it's coming back up. It just seems risky to make a permanent change to our highest ranked server at a time when we're already seeing issues with filling servers and maintaining member count.

Honestly I'd leave it alone. I hate HLstats almost as much as I hate Dust2, but having a #1 ranked server speaks volumes to management when it comes time to trim the fat and cut hardware costs.

Gamers are fickle, and INS is the least populated Division that we run servers for, so we're dependent on keeping the pubs happy to keep the servers alive. We just don't have the people to keep servers full without outside help, and obviously the pubs are happy since the servers ranked #1.

I think you guys that are scared of the #1 rank being lost from dust haven't played on any other Dust 2 servers to understand that its not possible for a another Dust 2 server to take number 1 spot

Why?

Those other Dust 2 servers such as 187 who are know hackers and almost never have any admins
That's why we hold number 1 with dust we have admins.

Ever other Dust 2 server that I have played that's not eGO always has racist people on there mic spammers and just a whole list of other problems like wire frame doors

We have the #1 Dust 2 server because we have the best admins and with hlstats gone we will have even more admins such as myself _Me_ and many more.

We should do a road trip to the other dust 2 servers so you guys will see why we wont lose #1 trust me it will make more sense to you guys that are on the fence about the issue.

This is true, other Dust2 servers are left for the killing by the admin teams, letting pub users do as they please, often resulting in lesser game quality for regulars.

EDIT: Just tried to log in, looks like I have a ban to contest! May have been accidental TK, unsure.

I sense a Meeting Coming on. Perhaps, we can figure it out better in vent than on the forums.

Just a thought,

Where everyone is coming up with this rank-busting issue is somewhat interesting.

Dust2, rather than HLStats, is the impetuous behind the different play styles you see on the server. I - for one - do not enjoy playing Dust2 only for capping the points, as some claim is the “one true way” to play the game. Instead, I prefer to help a team by harassing the other team as I find the capture-point model all too simplistic.

HLStats as part of the server allows for the otherwise out-of-place map to have some meaning that is beyond the normal nature of the game. I might suggest that persons who feel their rank drop considerably on the Dust2 map are only out of touch with the nature of how that server plays. Swapping styles of play between this and our other servers does require some rework for the individual.

It would be unrealistic to believe you will all suddenly get better, or worse, by simply removing stats. In fact, as a positive re-enforcement mechanism the stats are naturally geared towards training you to do what you should be doing.
