Bad Company 2 - Always gets "Your connection to EA was lost"

So my wife was trying to login to BC2, and it told her it was updating her stats and then it said the connection to EA was lost. We ran a few diagnostics, she tried it again and it said her connection to EA was lost. We forwarded the ports, it said her connection to EA was lost. We DMZed my computer, said her connection was lost. We turned off all security measures and plugged it directly into the modem, it said her connection to EA was lost. She claims it was working perfectly yesterday, and her friend says that EA isn't down or anything but it won't allow her to play online because it keeps getting that error.

This was getting reported on the forums all day, apparently there's some issues that's causing this disconnect for different reasons ranging from,

1. Stuff is just down and won't let you connect.
2. Stuff is down for current accounts but you can create new accounts

It may also be possible that your punkbuster is somehow out of date, you can update it here, http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=support-bc2.php since that can cause the same error message as well.
