Man I love this ninja. She's probably my favorite of the trio and her ult is beastly. I smell an incoming nerf.

Current build:
Merc Treads
Rageblade
Sword of Occult
Mejai SS
Haunting Guise

ya i haven't played her but i don't think i will for awhile either. i've played with a few akalis tho and they seem pretty weak 1v1 or during laning, but a true ninja where they are amazing at ganking and finishing people off.
her smoke bomb skill seems pretty pointless tbh because you can run through it very quickly..so maybe its best when you're in a fight you can throw it down and attack?
her ult does seem beastly too

She's pretty weak at start, but really shines once she gets some stacks up

I haven't played with her yet, seems interesting though. I played against one yesterday, that guy did not know what he was doing :P.

alright i just played with a guy that has a build for akali that absolutely DOMINATES everything. im talking about nearly 1 hitting every champ you come by. you can burst down every champion in the game with your list of skills EASY. and your movement speed is easily over 500, meaning nobody is getting away.

so basically you can use whatever boots, but swiftness will get you there even faster...and make sure you get sword of occult + mejai's soulstealer. once those are up and you have boots work on lich bane. once you have lichbane go for trinity force. if you get those items you cannot be stopped. you'll be tough to stop after lichbane, but be somewhat careful when in teamfights so you do not die and lose stacks. you'll be dishing out so much damage its only a matter of time before you have 20 stacks on both occult and soulstealer, and you'll be completely COMPLETELY unstoppable.
just got out of a game with this vs an annie/pantheon and another akali. the akali on our team 2 shot annie and 1 hit pantheon when he had about 3/4 hp left. it was unreal...also she was doing 800+ to towers.

if anybody has this char, work on building that either on TT or SR...we were on TT tho. was easier to get ganks and stacks

Well.. while in theory that could work, i don't see people getting to that point very often.. Atleast not in my games, if theres akali on other team that gets to that point in items, you can only blame yourself for letting her free farm and prolonging the game so far (my games usually dont last over 30-40 mins ever)

Though i can see that working on solo queue if other team is mediocre at best or you just happen to outplay them on every phase, but i guess my argument is mostly for Premades

granted you probably won't ever go past lich bane, but you don't even need to honestly - and i rarely ever have games that go over 30 minutes myself. i think my longest game played was 47 minutes. once you have sword of occult and mejai's SS you can work for a couple of ganks, get those up in stacks and you'll be a very difficult char to beat meaning you'll get more stacks as well as LOTS of gold.
the gold comes faster than you think when you're getting 15-20 or more kills per game

At my level of play you have to be a top notch akali to survive, she is focused like no other by a teambecause of how dangerous she is when fed. Fun champ, but like jax and twitch she's at the unplayable level at high elo because you will die first

theres easily ways around that

Why no Jax? He even made it to the finals in the 3v3 Tournament.

Jax in 5vs5 is different then 3vs3. In a competent team in 5vs5 you have 3-4 stuns. A team knows who to focus, and one person dies first. Theres no work around to that in a team fight.

Not really. Your work around is A) grab cleanse (which is what your forced to do). and B) Gimp your damage for survivability items.

Theres a reason yi, jax, twitch, ryze, gangplank, or tristana arent seen often once you get past the first few ranks of elo. They are know to do alot of damage, so they are focused.

Akali is a fun champ, and can be deadly if played with alot of skill. However, she shines in mid game and alot of times falls in late game due to the overabundance of aoe skills out that eliminate her only defense (smoke bomb). Sure the ability to ult to a creep is nice, but alot of times when you need one, there arent.

maybe i play too defensively, but i make sure as a carry or DPS i am not focused by jumping in basically mid fight to clean up. often times CCs have already been used, and if not yes i do carry cleanse because i think its pretty essential as a carry/DPS to have since you will often try to get focused. but the enemy will not completely avoid fighting your other champions just to wait to engage you...but that relies on your team too.
your team needs to be competent enough to realize you won't be starting the battle, as the other team won't allow their dpsers to initiate either. this is a big reason why most team fights result in a while of dancing around trying to get the dominate positioning on the other team. so know your role and position and you should be able to do fine...at least i do, regardless of what "rank of elo" im on.
PS i main katarina as you can see with my other thread (which nobody else has posted in lawl) so its basically the same thing...she may be one of the most focused champs in the entire game because of how easily her ult is shut down however i still manage great. akali i imagine is somewhat the same way where she can pop into the fight whenever she pleases

The problem with your strategy requires you to be carried by the team. A carry is meant not to mop up kills, but to dominate the fight. Akali doesn't do that well. Your main role is to kill the other carries, so if your doing nothing for half the fight, your team suffers. There's a reason ranged carries are more constantly played, because thy are hard to focus. Ezreal jumps out of the way, Ashe kites, ect. Mel?e caries in general aren't as succesful because of how easy they are to kill. Udyr in my oppinion is one of the best mel?e carries cause of his survability. That's also why yi is considered one of the lowest teir champs, he had no survability

im just trying to get the point across that i wait until my team engages and is focused, then i proceed to unleash my powers without too much attention. i don't actually stand around for 30 seconds until everybody is 3/4 dead. it just depends how the team fight is being initiated, but i really hate when carries try to jump in to get off massive amounts of damage first, cause they get killed in one second if that. or people that expect carries to jump into a battle like 3v5 or something and kill everybody. then they blame you if you didn't try to help and die also, however if you did try to help and die they'd also call you a noob etc etc.

i also like to play characters that are not the norm and adapt through the gameplay to do well with that champ in every situation. sure some champs are considered low ELO (which i think is stupid they have this elo tier crap to begin with) but they are fun to use and become good with.
i love tryndamere, especially on TT now and i win with him. sure his early game sucks but i've gotten good with it where i can last hit fine, not die, and sometimes even get kills/assists...that all leads to his late game, which is incredible. will elitest actually play with char in tournaments or whatever else? hell no, but i love the challenge of his laning phase.

also you said with my strategy i required to be carried by a team. well somewhat yes thats what i carries need. they need the team or teammates to soak up damage and CCs so they can do their job of damaging and carrying the team in kills. you can't dominate the fight in the front lines, as you already said you'll be focused down immediately...carries have no choice but to initiate later than others

Carries are great initiators. Just not melee related ones. Ezreal does it great by attacking, and teleporting away. If a team fight starts and someone on their team is not at 50% hp, im not doing my job. Ashe has a stun, which is one of the best initiators in this game. A good team knows how to harass a carry in a team fight. The tank will go straight for you, someone will reserve a stun or 2 for you. At least in my level of play that's so. I main ezreal, or have started to do and i carry my team. I can take 2-3 people by myself due to being ranged. I have never been this succesful with any melee champion, because they do not have the huge advantage of being ranged.

Theres ELO for a reason. If it wasent implemented, you would be playing against people that would wreck you, day in and day out. This also allows for people to learn which champions work in their categories and play them. Theres a reason yi, eve, and the rest are champions you que dodge in high ELO. They do not work, thats why they have been remade by the devs.

Also, all my points are directed at a 5vs5 scenario with a competent team on both sides. In my experience playing since beta, any champion that is meant to deal damage is preferred to have 2 of the following 3 things: A way to get in and out. A way to deal damage without much danger to themselves. A very nice CC. Ranged carries fit most of these categories, melee ones do not.

i didn't say melee carries were better than range. range has an obvious huge advantage in this game...too much so IMO but doesn't that make it obvious you cannot play a melee carry the same as range?
if you ask me anybody can play ezreal and eventually get good with him and be high ELO with lots of wins/kills and no losses/deaths...that is boring. everybody plays the same champs in this game and its pretty annoying.
if you enter a fight and somebody is not under 50% hp i agree, as a range carry you did not do your job...as a melee carry you need to stay somewhat in the back so that the tank cannot charge for you as you say. by then your team attacks, and when everybody is good and ready you can do whatever skill you have to get near by the back to demolish their carries.
you can do well with melee carries, you just need to adapt your play. now im sure you'll say oh its because you're low ELO, grow up and fight real skilled players and its all different. this is what i call the elitist factor that this game and its ELO ranking brings. its splashed all over LoL forums and here when things are discussed as well as in vent when anybody says anything. everybody thinks they're better than anybody else blah blah wah wah. i'd just prefer not to discuss anything about LoL with anybody again and keep doing what im doing..it works for me.

Ok. It works fine for you, im sure. Im just saying as you get more games under your belt, certain champions will be phased out for the reasons of people understanding the game more. Theres a reason melee champs dominate TT, and ranged champs dominate 5v5. Its just part of the game. However playing a team like shen + kayle +yi/twitch + zilean, in any game will change the rules. My posts don't take consideration of anything besides solo que. Melee champs on average do more damage, just you have to play more carefully, and in a game where you don't have a pocket buffer, as in most solo ques its not worth the risk to play.

Also saying "if you ask me anybody can play ezreal and eventually get good with him and be high ELO with lots of wins/kills and no losses/deaths.." is just ignorant. You can play ANY champion and get good with them. Ive seen great yi's that have surprised me, sure. Yet talking in general in a solo que environment you will not as you play more games be as successful with melee champs, except with tons and tons of practice.

Also saying that ELO is just elitist crap is crap. It puts you in a ranking where you can play with a challenge. I can go into a practice game as master yi with random players and go 20-0. I cannot accomplish the same in a solo que game, for a reason.
