RATE MY RIG

Thats nice, I dont know much about ddr3 but I am sure that 2 GB is better then 4 GB of ddr2, Anyways, very nice system, bit pricey, but what do you expect?

I was like "hmm I'm feeling this" and then I saw Vista O_O

Don't do it man! The extra dx10 graphics aren't worth making your PC look like a Mac :-p

Dont listen to this, Vista pwns, and within a year, there will be no XP updates (Apparently) Just stick with vista

i think the intel socket will be done by the end of next year and when Nahelem comes out there will be 2 or 3 different sockets for that architech and btw which will include IQP=AMD, HT and then the memory gap will have been closed... but the good thing is you will have the option of aHIGH-K processor and then will be able to clock the shhhh.... out of it

BAH NO NEW SOCKETS!!!!! I bought a 939 and guess what came out a month later AM2!!! gah im not going through that again. Do you think its even worth building a rig till then.... will i be that out dated. And to answer somebody else NO sometimes ddr3 does not do as well as ddr2 yet keyword YET. This ram does have outstanding OC capability. And as to vista I agree I hate vista currently as well but my rig should be able to handle the graphics overload that it uselessly adds. I was looking for some commentary on the case if anybody noticed. THe mobo has an onboard waterblock for the x38

also i am going to get two of those hard drives and run them in raid0 somebody tell me what raid0 does

it'll load RED ORCHESTRA maps faster :D - i love my Raptor 150 - it may be a nice as my 36Gb Ultra 320 SCSI 15k drive ....naaaaaah who am i kidding, i love my SCSI

HAHAHAHAHA.

Vista is horrible. I switched back to XP from it. Every single DX9 game runs badly on it. It's just a horrible OS.
And you should buy an 8800 gt instead of a gts. It's faster and cheaper.

you gotta ask yourself, do i really need that case if i will be watercooling, you could save yourself a buck and a half with something that will do just as good... it will be noisy even with those 120mm fans

Before taking too much from what I am going to say understand that I have not yet at all looked at your setup - infact, I havn't made a post in over a week - I've come down with bronchitus and this week is finals week - my senior project is dues wednesday needless to say it wil be next week before I have time enough to rate anybodys rig.

That being said you need to stop whining. oh no so you bought a socket 939 - guess what? socket 393 rocked, and it was out for a while before being replaced. even today (like 4 years later) you can still buy 939 socket processor - even if they are opterons. If you want to be able to whine about making a bad investment what about people who own socket 940 processor - now THERE are people you can feel bad for. Infact, 4 years ago (or was it 5?) I myself was buying a 940 pin system. The socket had a life period equal to the popularity of MC Hammer - about 2 weeks.

And to your raid question, Raid 0 is when you take two hard drives and you zipper your data so that every other block gets assigned to each one individually. It makes your hard drives nearly twice as fast for this reason - because it is reading and writing half to data to twice the drives. The problem with Raid 0 is that you also double your chance of losing everything because if one of your hard drives fail - you lose everything. If you have tons of cash to throw at Raid then go with Raid 5, that way you get speed and reliability.

p.s. when i said stop whining it was all in good fun.

I can't believe people haven't figured this out, you have to get new software and games, so they work for sure on vista. people are always saying that they hate vista and the comptatiblity issues, if your going to run older stuff on your computer, use XP, if you want to use new software and games, use vista, vista is good.

*sigh*
All new games run on XP, save for Halo 2. You do NOT need Vista. It is horrible. It is a crap OS. It has terrible performance problems in all Dx9 games and so far DX10 has not been worth the upgrade. Even Crysis, DX10's showcase, could be tweaked to look the same on DX9. It's not worth it. Lol at "I can't believe people haven't figured this out, you have to get new software and games, so they work for sure on vista".
Every new game works on XP unless the developer specifically stops it from doing so due to pressure from M$.

Vista is amazing. And Macs own pc's hard core. Especially now that Leopard is out and running fine, it will man handle games easy.

LOL, let me say something, I have used XP a lot, and you have too, I bet, and yes, all the new games work on XP, and DX10 there is a big difference, if you watch some youtube videos they compare DX9 and DX10, there is a big difference, its way more realistic, gun shots, fire, explosions, ,textures, character details, everything looks a lot better. And It runs better then XP does, I have run both XP and Vista on this machine that i'm using. Currently using vista, games DO run better, plus better graphics, the only problem that I do have with Vista is the boot up, it does boot windows core components really fast, but it starts the whole thing slower then XP does. But who cares? If you like XP, then thats fine, if you don't like Vista, thats fine, it doesn't really matter anyways, as long as it makes you happy :)

I'm sorry, but there is little to no difference between DX10 and DX9. Show me one video that proves the benefits of DX10. Good luck. And it's a proven fact that games run better on Xp then Vista. I'll post links soon.

There is no need to post links zombifruit for two reasons:
one - I, being a someone who likes vista, admit for everybody that games run better on XP than vista.
two - any links you post will be of a comparrison that is older than today (which ever today this today is) and with every new driver update that gap decreases. Yes, wings was incorrect to say that games run better on vista because they do not. However, on a machine like mine - with the newest drivers, the difference is only a matter of 1-5 frames (and yes i play in both xp and vista on this exact same machine so yes i do know)

If anyone says differently about games running better on vista then i will be here to debunch those claims, however, on every other issue - you are on your own, i like vista and most peoples problems with it is nothing more than old news, propaganda, or here say from their little sisters sissy friend chuck who's alter ego is sally.

But yes please, do by all means find / post videos of comparrisons between DX9 and DX10. Then post them in the already created Vista thread I made in tech talk - lets let this thread stay on its original topic of "rating his rig" ok?

Hey don't get me wrong, I love vista for the looks and feel, and it's a good OS but sadly, I need to use old drivers due to problems with my .NET framework being forced to be downgraded. This means that I lose a considerable amount of frames on Vista so I opted to go back to XP. I am not trying to insult him, just inform him. And now to the topic: get an 8800GT.

Ok, I got some Youtube videos that have the comparisons.
Have fun watching-

http://youtube.com/watch?v=dyIfY_D16MA
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Jr5lRSdRqW8

There probably more, but thats as much as I'm going to get.
The quality on youtube is pretty bad, so you can't really see the huge differences.

And if you don't have as much CPU, or RAM, in your computer, then use XP, if you do like 1 or 2GB then use Vista. I have noticed on my computer, which has run both XP and Vista (Dual booting) that DOD:S, Wolfenstein ET, RTCW, CRYSIS, BioShock, ET:QW, and BF2142 do run better, not only faster but look a lot better. But then again, not everyone likes Vista, so if you don't use XP, Its not like i'm telling you that you should hate XP. Its good. :)
