Removing Tracking Cookies

Hey guys, I'm in need of some assistance.

A few days ago I got a pop-up from AVG (free) saying it found some tracking cookies. I did a full scan and narrowed it to my AppData folder. I'll scan it, it found 40 warnings. Removed them and ran another scan, no warnings. Well an hour later of not even browsing it has another 50 or so cookies.

I removed my cookies from Firefox, added some cookie manager type add-ons for Firefox.

What else can I do to remove these things?

Does that mean you had no browser open? Because even having it open, on sites that have ads especially (like eGO's) will give you cookies from the ads.

All tracking cookies mainly do is record your browsing/search history so it can tailor ads to you.

Aside from regular scans, not much else that I'm aware of.

Though I would recommend Spybot S&D it will also remove the cookies and other types of spyware as well as offering passive protection.

Tracking cookies aren't really too much of a worry unless you have over 9000.

but yeah tracker cookies arent bad until they are like a bagillion of them, or if one of them is infected with a trojan

You use Firefox, so here's a helpful cookie add-on.

You can also use tools like Spywareblaster and Spybot to tweak your browser to block some tracking cookies off the bat.
