CSS Beta open!

I know it's just a beta, but mine is SERIOUSLY buggy. Enough so that I can hardly play it, and i would appreciate some help. For one, my steam browser doesn't match my display settings on my monitor and everything shows up super enlarged. This has happened on other games before, so it was cool because it was still functional but when i tried viewing achievements and such the screen borders exceeded those of my monitor and i couldn't close out of it or navigate through it at all. Once I got past that and joined a game the first thing I noticed was the hideous decrease in quality, deforming and pixellating everything. I know there must be a technical problem with that because in demos i saw the game looked just like episode two. The text is very pixelly and small, making it near-impossible to read. There is also weird formatting :/ and MOST IMPORTANTLY I really liked how in css you could work with a team while mantaining the ability to manuever around the map (for a better shot or to avoid enemy fire) but in the beta it doesn't allow players to stack. This is alright I guess, except for the fact that when you get ANYWHERE NEAR YOUR TEAMMATES YOU GLITCH HORRIBLY AND ARE BLOCKED OFF. This annoys me GREATLY. If anyone could help with any of these, I would be much appreciative.

Its giving CS:S the attention it deserves.

Do you know when they update TF2 sometimes they ship out an engine update as well? Since TF2 and DOD run on the same engine they both get engine updates. Know why these updates happen? Its to fix bugs in the Source Engine. Bugs that STILL exist in the HL2 engine, the one CS:S runs on.

CS:S will not be ruined. Its being modernized to actually look respectable, which is saying a lot since CS:S is over 5 years old.

I'm happy Valve is paying attention to their moneymaker. They should of did it a long time ago.

Well said Beta ^^ .

I think it's Valve saying thanks for sticking at CS:S for so long, heres an update so that you can be just as good if not better than our other games.

It's about time... CS:S should have been switched over to the newer engine a long time ago. There was no reason to leave one of their biggest iconic/cult games on the backburner for so long.

*insert TL;DR rant here*

Yeah beta is always right :)

The only thing i don't like about the beta is the permanent stats recording, if you play jail a lot it'll make you look bad :p

LOL. OR you could be warden half the time and just play trivia and couch game and say "I'll be the only one shooting tyvm" and get like a 5:1 kdr ...

I'm pretty sure there will be a way to turn off the stats recording from the server side for "fun" servers and what not.

Maybe they'll introduce a system like in GMOD where you can select the game type, and stats won't count

I like the update so far, it's brought in some nice features to a game that deserved a major update.

Since it's a beta, there WILL BE BUGS. THE POINT OF BETA IS TO FIND BUGS. DON'T COMPLAIN

So yeah, I like it so far

i don't know for sure but i suspect since its an engine update and such you'll need to reset everything about the game such as your autoexec configs your graphic settings and such which might be manatee mans problem. also about the players cannot stack, thats normal for CSS and yes you will bounce around appearing to "glitch". just on eGO servers you have no block mod meaning you can walk through other characters.

Me personally I like the Beta. Hits register alot better. This morning i got 19-8 which for me is good, without trying at all. And I did 1 burst and a guy that was running and he did with that one burst. I love it. Scoreboard and Acheivments look clean and nice. Cant wait for it to fully update CS:S.

I can see there being problems with seeing our steam avatars in-game now in the future, since some players have pictures that break eGO rules. Ie. nudity/drugs

wait does it have a cap as to how many beta users it will take cause when I get home from work and find that all slots are filled then im gonna be firing my lazors!!!! Anyways thanks for da info
