Valve Server Connection Problems

Hey Guys,

Recently, I have had some difficulty connecting to steam servers, as when i try to join a server, it gives me this popup:

At first, I thought that this meant I was for some reason VAC Banned, so I checked my status, and it says 'in good standing'; which was a relief, because I do not know what I would be banned for in the first place, and didn't want to have wasted my money to be falsely banned.

Anyways- I was checking around my friends list, for a solution, and one said restart steam (i restarted : nothing), another said to re-install CSS (i did : nothing), and a final said to defrag my CSS (i did : nothing)

If anyone has a solution as to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated!

YES, i can still join servers, but it waits about 5 minutes before connecting, and through my steam friends list, i can not see any server information, just IP's.

As you can see, it's to due with your Internet. That's why you have a 1000 ping. Try opening that port

Well, I have this problem lots. As iSimon said, your ping is over 1000. I usually just let the box stay open for ~30 seconds and it should connect. If it doesn't, try forwarding your ports.

If it still doesn't work, your could try contacting your ISP (Internet Service Provider) or router manufacturer (if you have a router) to see if they have any suggestions.

Opening ports would do nothing, unless I wanted to host my own server-
And it's something to do with me in particular, because my brother can play fine. But again, if i press join game, about 5-8 times, it eventually connects. @.@

It's really odd, I think it might have something to do with my anti-virus, but McAfee has done nothing like this prior to the past week; and i've had it since november.

*edit* and if it were involving my closed ports, wouldn't i not be able to connect at all; never have been able to see it before?

Look in your server.cfg if your location is set correctly.

I usually just click join or refresh a couple times and it will be a fixed.
