screen recording software

I need one that will allow me to record INS and what not i tried fraps but it just made my laptop lag like crazy i need something that won't lag any suggestions?

try typing in console record <name> without brackets. Not sure if the same as the other games.

Listen to iSimon. Hes a smart man. Source Recorder may be a bit confusing at first but when you learn to use it and get it done. Nothing can compare quality and performance wise.

Unlike the 50 bajillion images you get.

What i normally do is record it with "record imthebest" and then when i play it back i record it with fraps. No matter how much it lags it should be pretty good quality.

Source recorder lags on my comp, which is half decent. I prefer Fraps.

I use fraps. I just set it to record at half of what my FPS is ingame. Turn off the feature to record sound and then use Sony Vegas to edit. Recording sounds will make the file size insanely LARGE.

You can also try WeGame. I stumbled across it when I played MW2 as it's required by TWL to record demos. File size is a little smaller than FRAPS with no lag. It also has a screenshot function as well as uploads both video and sceenies to a WeGame profile page for you. Only drawback is that options are somewhat limited. Will record at either half size or full size but FPS is capped at 30 frames.

mmm...Fraps has a lower overhead than the Source recorder built into most Source games (TF2, DOD, CS:S)

If running Fraps significintly impairs your system, trying to play while using the Source recorder will be even worse - try adjusting some of the Frap settings? maybe don't record at full-screen resolution; have you tried half? For things like posting on web-sites (like You-Tube) half is fine and takes less space / resources to record...
