A member got a steam chat message from my account that said I was trying to get 1000 people to join a steam group so I could get a free server from a sponsor. This person had to log into their steam account to sign up on a sight. They did, and their account was hijacked.

A warning to anyone who gets this message... ITS NOT ME! Don't go to that site and NEVER enter your STEAM info anywhere but in a STEAM application.
 
Keep your guard on guys! And make sure your steam account is email verified!
 
Make sure everyone Gets Steam Email Verified alright, its the safe bet. and if someone does hack it, its alot easier to get returned. !!!
 
Yeah beware guys many phishing sites out-there.

By the way art , you put SIGHT instead of SITE hehe.
 
I never click links unless i know the person. And if it's a tinyurl.com/..... then i definitely don't click it.
 
You can click whatever you want, if you know what you are doing. If not just browse safely, and never give any site your personal info. In Firefox, there is a feature that shows if the site you are at is the real site you intended to visit.
 
I got mine hijacked but i fought the STEAM and i got it back.. I had to take pictures of my cd key and lots of other information but then i finally got it back.. The person had spammed my friends and then deleted them.
 
that thing happend to me for 1 year ago..when I had my sniper clan in dod:s S.o.H ( soldiers of hell ).

a guy contacted me on steam and he told me he was a sponsor
he wanted to sponsor our clan and we will get 2 free servers if we make him our sponsor...
all I needed to do was to register on a steam site that he sended me.

I was on my way to my job and I told him that I will talk later

Me, verry happy of corse just logout from steam and register my logins to the site and went to job.

when I came home I could not login to my steamaccount

when I login from my brothers account I saw that they had change everything on my account that got hijacket....

I did not have any papers that shows that the account was mine so www.steampowered.com sayd that they couldnt do anything.

and I read on their site that u always have to keep the information papers that the account is urs....and that they never send sites to u or contact u for someting to log in or register to ...they just put their info on News or forums

so if u get contact from some1 that tells u to log in to a site or to register somewhere....to get free stuffs.........!DONT!

if u are a beliver..I suggest u try to log in with a false logins to see what happends =)

but from that day..I dont eaven opend a youtube site that a some1 sends me =) =) =)

My steam account got hijacked not too long ago. Never got it back. Had to get another one.

For a gamer, it's like identity theft. It totally sucks.
 
Yea never give out any info, not just on ego but anywhere. My Dad almost made that mistake a while back for ebay. Luckily my mom just happen to walk in the room and stop him. He almost gave out his credit card information.

u can only have ur account back if u have any copy of the byment u did or a cd key

if u have it..contact STEAMPOWERED
 
Well this is actually a pretty serious offense. Many gamers have hundreds of dollars worth of games on their account. Stealing someone's account is the same thing as stealing hundreds of dollars worth of games from a store. IMO, these people need to be caught and face serious jail time. That should deter it.
 
1337Noobster got hacked.

1337Noobster fell for it and the guy got his steam, both gmail accounts, facebook, aim, and a few other accounts. Knowing him in real life, and that hes been applying to colleges he may have even got his ssn too :cursing:

He changed 1337Noobsters steam profile from e to eG, and started messaging me about getting a promotion if I joined his group:

After calling 1337Noobster (the real one, my friend), I called the hacker out on being a hacker and had a brief conversation with him:

Even though he only owns CS:S and INS, hes probably going to lose his good standing on several servers until Steam recovers his account:

He then logged off and/or possibly blocked me.

Its really a shame, I'm finding out now that on top of all the other stuff he messed with this guy even logged into his school accounts and changed his password. On top of being very convincing, I think his site may read cookies or some other saved password info because my friend says uses slightly different passwords for most of his stuff.

1337Noobster (not the hacker) logged in recently to change his edgegamers password. If anyone sees him on INS or CS:S playing, its not him. So if his account is hacking, its not his fault. He told me he may end up just making a new steam account. This sucks. :(
