EdgeGamers is proud to present our first Altitude server! For those who haven't heard about Altitude, it's a 2D multi-player game by Nimbly games. Here's a blip from the steam page:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/41300/

Multiplayer Done Right: Altitude combines Call-of-Duty style perks with the gameplay variety of Team Fortress 2 in a fresh multiplayer experience. Carefully refined controls, netcode, and balance make for hundreds of hours of deep, rewarding gameplay.

Seven Engaging Game Modes:

Plane Ball's constant action makes it a favorite among new and casual players while team-based tactical maneuvers like passing and blocking provide a fun challenge for veterans.
Team Base Destruction offers an intense, competitive experience where coordinated pushes and strategic loadout decisions turn the tide. Try a friendly pickup game or join a clan and play in the "Altitude ProLeague" - a competitive tournament scene run by hardcore gamers from the Starcraft and Counter-Strike communities.
For the ultimate test of dogfighting skills try 1-life Deathmatch or compete in Demolition for a more tactical, objective-based experience.
Or enjoy classic game modes like Free For All and Team Deathmatch.

The game is currently on sale for 5 dollars through steam. It will be the best 5 dollars you ever spent.

Our eGO server can be found through the in game server list: 24/7 =(eGO)= edgegamers.org</div>

Game looks pretty cool, doubt my brother will get it though :)

We have dedicated boxes to host our servers. Adding IP's and instances to a box does not affect our bottom line. While a box may not be able to handle another tf2 or cs:s instance stabely, a low resource game such as this can most efficiently utilize what we already pay for and offer our members the best bang for our buck.

Thanks man, I thought we might be able to stick this on another box but I wasn't entirely sure. So I wanted to clarify.

This does sound fun, though. Unfortunately I just realized that I couldn't pick up the game for $5, as my paypal put it's last $20 in as a donation last week. Oh, the irony. I guess I might have to consider spending $10 sometime later.

The server doesn't cost us anything as the client is not resource intensive. Plus, it was just for fun, we had the room, its not going to be there for ever, nor are we creating a division for it..

Its basically just for fun... Not sure why there is a stink about it.

If you could all do me a favor, and take a genuine curiosity - that when answered actually makes us look good, for what it is - I'd really appreciate it.

GG I'm just curious if that set in stone? If Altitude takes off, there's no chance for a div or a permanent server?

Out of curiosity, how much does a server for this game cost in comparison to other games? I'm not very familiar with that type of thing, and I'm wondering how this will - if at all, impact our monthly bills.

It's odd, from my (relatively uninformed, and unfamiliar) standpoint to see a thread about how desperately we need donations to keep from cutting down one day, and then to see another about a new server for a new game the next.

Regardless of that, though, I love cheap games. I might have to check this out.

This server uses a very small setup and launcher that we were able to include it into one of our existing servers. No extra fee to us.

Its just an added thing for us to play if we get board of playing on any of our other servers, this was kind of out of whim, it wasn't meant for a division or anything like that, Me and Harmless were having a blast playing it, and since the server wasn't like a TF2 server we figured we would try it.

So we did, took like 10 mins for the thing to fill up, was full until 12 - 1 am PST...

I'm not to sure that we need a division for it. We just thought it would be fun to try.

I played the heck out of Altitude when it was first released, but I see a lot has changed since then. Looks like I might have to reinstall it! I think my guy was level 53.

Please do! The game has come pretty far from it's initial Steam release. If you enjoyed it then, you'll love it now.

Oh and quick tip for everyone, since everybody who has added me thus far has had it happen to them: to change your name and get rid of the numbers at the end, go to Options -> Account, and change your nickname.

Also, is the current server 24/7 TBD?

Ha, I must be old school. I played the game way before Steam offered it. I bought it well over a year ago.

Stock rotation of all the game modes randomly.

24 players.

This seems very fun, and most of my friends have it, so I'll give it a shot.

GOLLY MOSES! I start the game up to check out the new server, and I have like THIRTY friend requests from eGO guys, and friends alike. My friends list doubled in one moment!

Will some of us be able to administrate the servers? I play Altitude a whole lot, and I've had it for quiet a while. I would be more than happy to help keep it punk free and fun!
