Elderscrolls 5

God I want a new TES game so bad, oblivion was amazing! Although I can't really play it anymore because of how buggy the engine was (which they NEED to fix in the next version, or at least continually update it)

Anyways, something I found that looks promising:

"Fallout 3 publisher Bethesda has indicated that the next title in the hugely popular Elder Scrolls series will be released in 2010.

Paul Oughton, publishing executive for Bethesda, also said that although the market for the Wii and DS has opened up more varied publishing opportunities, the company doesn't have any current plans to release titles for Nintendo consoles.

"At the moment we've got Fallout 3 for this year and potentially there's a new Elder Scrolls title in 2010," said Oughton. "At the moment we're not that interested in the Wii. We're going to stick to PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. We'll continue to pursue three or four titles a year and go for big titles," he said of the company's publishing plans for the future.

Oughton acknowledged that Nintendo has done a great job of expanding the games market to a mass audience, but he also expects that it will soon reach saturation point.

"We've seen games selling in the past 18 months that we never thought we'd see. We wouldn't have thought that pet games and cooking games would have a viable market five years ago. No publisher would have taken those products on," he said.

"But Nintendo bought new products in with vast amounts of marketing money to launch these into the minds of the consumer and made a market for them. Every other publisher then very quickly developed DS and Wii products and we're getting to saturation now." "

Well, E3 is coming up, hopefully some light will be shined on this game :)

There hasn't been ANY official news concerning TES 5 to my knowledge. I've been keeping pretty thorough track of it.

It's true that they did register "Skyrim", and there has been speculation that this is as a result where the next game will take place. (That happened about a year ago, at least.)

There have been reports (from supposedly reliable sources) that Zenimax is working on an Elder Scrolls MMO. Though this hasn't been confirmed officially at any point by the company itself.

And to quote UESP:

UESP said:
In an interview with Joystiq, Bethesda Vice President Pete Hines announced that the company is unlikely to announce any new games at this year's E3 event, which takes place from June 15-17 this year in Los Angeles. He did, however, suggest that an announcement was more likely at QuakeCon, which is happening from August 12-15 in Dallas.

He also scotched rumors that TESV will be a Facebook-based MMO.

Of course, this doesn't mean that there will be an announcement, and any announcement might not be about the Elder Scrolls.

Hence...

I think we'll have to wait until at least later this year for any confirmation that they're even making the game, and where it'll be.

That interview stating a TES release in 2010 is outdated, and if we DO see a TES release, I highly doubt it's going to be TES 5. We'll be waiting another year or two for that, at least, if I had to guess.

Oh, and...

If you're talking about things like the dreaded "A-Bomb" bug, this isn't something Bethesda has the capability to fix for Oblivion, because it's not a problem with the engine it's a problem with licensed software they used for the game. They don't have the legal rights to make the appropriate changes to it for Oblivion. There is an easy fix for nearly all bugs on the PC version, though.

there is some good player made updates that fix alot of the bugs.

It really stinks that they may not make another Elderscrolls (Not MMO)

i have a feeling they are going to ruin the series by making it a MMO, but only time will tell

I know there's lots of fixes, but still the game hasn't been patched in so long Officially that there's a lot of bugs unfixable by just mods, at least I think? And software and hardware keep updating, while the TES IV engine does not, so that has something to do with it as well I think. But I still love it don't get me wrong :P.

And whoever asked about the Fallout series being cancelled, read this:
