Yeah, i know what you mean about echoes. It really breaks up the feel of the song when they broke it up into seperate parts. Did your dad get a recording of "intersteller overdrive? " A friend of mine has a CD call "pink floyd and friends". Which is a collabration of floyd and a bunch of other bands. They have a live version of "Intersteller Overdrive" on it where Syd just goes crazy on the guitar. Check it out if you haven't already.

Most of the songs on the tape were unique to Syd, though yes, he did play 'Interstellar Overdrive'. That and another classic from 'Piper at the gates of dawn,' 'Astronomy Domine'. Ah... Floyd's bests were their instrumental only songs, they were the true epitome of acid rock yet someday they deserve to be called 'classical'. Even if Roger Waters screams like he's getting drilled in the balls in the middle of 'Careful with that Axe, Eugene' no one can deny the beautiful and haunting sound it has throughout. And the instrumental part of Echoes is my favourite bit as well, the beginning ping sends chills, and that dark turn in the middle where the guitar whales like a banshee..
Am I starting to float on about Pink Floyd's instrumentals ? Well, this thread does have 'Pink Floyd' and 'Fans' in the title, so am I not entitled to?
You know what, I feel like the only 16 your old kid in the world who can say all this stuff about the Floyd. I wanna know who the next youngest Floyd fan is who owns a copy of the 'Animals' 8 track with the bridge between 'Pigs on the wing' parts 1 & 2 by Snowy White? Cause I hate being full of myself and being a smart ass at 16.

Never heard of David Gilmoure? If you are familiar with the band Pink Floyd, you should be. After Syd left, he became their guitarist, as Roger Waters took over writing and continued singing. I don't know if I like him as much as Syd... But he did some pretty awesome stuff for 'Sheep' and a good portion of the wall, and I think he was a little too heavily criticized when he began writing Floyd's songs. Everyone whined because their songs lost the meaning, but at the same time, when the band started, they gained praise, and they didn't have a whole ton of meaning then, did they? I don't love his songs, they are definitely the weakest in Floyd's history, but there are a few shiners, and I do love hearing 'High Hopes' live on P*U*L*S*E*

I thought I would have, but I checked my collection and I do not. Is it an officially released album? The only unofficially released ones I own are that tape, a recording of 'Is there anybody out there' [Film, not audio] and a copy of the Demo tapes of The Wall dubbed 'Building The Wall' [The lyrics to comfortably numb... wow, thank god they changed %-6 . 'Is anybody bleeding? Is there anyone at home? Come on? I know your hiding? I can hear your screaming and your bleeding, you called me on the phone. Listen, I am a physician.
