As people crave intensity in flavor, some traditionalists are wondering if diners will become desensitized to natural flavors. Regular mangoes may taste bland when eaten next to mango-flavored gum or a mango energy drink, they say.

The essence of the article is about the trends of flavors in America. It notes that American's are now craving intense and exotic flavors over traditional foods. The article mentions that gum companies are creating new flavors constantly to meet new demands and even restaurant chains are creating more flavor intense items.

I personally have to agree with this article. Not only do I notice the trend through what I see on the shelves at stores, but just in my own preference. I never used to like spicy foods, but I know am always adding hot sauce to foods. I also seem to be turned off to "old" foods such as roasted chicken and mashed potatoes and open to newer things such as curry chicken.

What do you think? Are you addicted to intense flavor? Do you notice a trend in supermarkets or in your own home? Please share. :)

I dont thing I really crave different flavors, instead I attempt to maintain a high standard of flavor. For example, a medium-rare steak at Texas Roadhouse with a tall 23 ounce bud light, no steak sauce.

Although, I have been craving alot of Subway lately...Maybe they put nicotine in the food. You just can't argue with a foot long buffalo chicken on honey oat with everything.
