Good question. Generally on a bad night playing TF2, My ping can reach up to about 1000-1500, typically.

My worst ping ever? 22,000 one night when I was playing WoW.

Funny this thread should come about while im having big trouble with Comcrap. I used to love them, maybe i still do . But now right now... This is after they came out twice to repair/diagnose. Over the phone the first couple times they easily resolved it, it came back so called someone in. Guy did absolutely nothing. Called again, lady on the phone did a test and said "i see serious problems, i am surprised you have not called much earlier." She had someone come out again an this dude tried a bit harder , added an amplifier to our lines and took off. This took me down to 1200ms ping from 1600. Now, im back to the 1600. The server i am pinging is maybe 30 miles away... just not right. Tried again on the phone, lady says "im sending 50, and.... received 50 . I see no problem here." They send someone out again, who did nothing to fix it. Again. Oh yeah, by the way- the 2.7 down speed is a bit better than the .5-1.0 speeds i was seeing.

This is a huge annoyance as my job requires tons of high res photo uploading and lots of internet use and i can be on my office machine for upto 10 hours a day. Used to have 10-20 tabs open all the time, i'm probably better off with my sprint wireless card.

The guy , who i refuse to call a true technician also said there is tons of noise in my lines. What do i gotta do to get them to fix this? Or more simply, how can i do it myself?

i will do every wire new cause one bad wire can messed everything up

noise in ur line is they call it feedback but sometime they lie so they can come into ur house and look at ur setup .. but maybe cause with much ping so check ur ends on tv make sure they not damaged then take tape measure and measure to tvs and cable modem so u get idea the wires u need to wire it but make u run it where no one can touch it behind stuff or in the wall . but the cable modem wire works best from the first wire that comes into the house so use a Splitter i would use this one http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat_id=3125&sku=41019 then run about 10 foot cable less is better for that cable to the modem ..for wires something like this help alot http://www.drillspot.com/products/43002/Thomas_and_Betts_GC250RT_Wire_Cable_Clip?s=1 use them on ur side of the floor broad that lil wood broad between ur carpet and the wall remember to add about 5 foot to tvs so u can move them later on. dont use more then two Splitters in the house and dont over tighten the cables wire ends but make they tight

i would tell them to fix the street wire .. but hide that amplifier before they come out so they dont take it away from u and wire it back up after they leave have the RF INPUT going to the the wire coming into the house and have remote power/rf output 1 going to the cable modem 10 foot or less is better cable wire if u got digital cable need use that same one output so use this http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat_id=3125&sku=41017 or this http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat_id=3125&sku=41019 depenesed how many boxes u are using.. other output should be basic cable just give me the model number so i can make sure

As of now, we do have a couple splitters, the main modem upstairs is connected to a PC running our camera system, another to a workstation desktop, and another that runs downstairs to a seperate router. The fourth ethernet plug is not in use. 3 tv's are also hooked up , but not in use.

The router downstairs is a basic Dynex 4 port that goes to 3 other offices , one being mine which i then have a D link DIR 655 plugged into mine.

I have tried removing the Dlink router and all other connections except to the workstation upstairs which is connected to the main comcast modem/router. No luck. I have power cycled several times on all modems/routers and reset all network adapters as well.

We had this entire setup running FLAWLESSLY for about 2 or 3 months with some speedtests reading up to 30 down and 6 up, normally its between 15-20.

When viewing the local area connection status, sent and received numbers are looking just fine .

Thanks for the info Mr. Knight, but you would freak out if you seen the huge mess of cables everywhere around the modem upstairs. I would have a hard time knowing where to start and it would be easier for me to just start from the beginning. However i see no sense in spending that much time ( it would take hours maybe an entire day ) to try myself on something so time consuming and tedious when this is Comcasts job. You seen there commercials, they lie. I have always had great things to say about them, until these problems came about.

Ah yes, the street wire. They had done that at one of my residences. Kept dropping the connection randomly, the tech did a few tests and climbed a pole without calling "the other guys that are supposed to it cuz its not my job" and did find a major problem up there.

I have told them several times, all solutions have been tried and failed so can we check the street line. They will do anything not to.

Im unsure of what model numbers you need for which parts. The Amp? Splitters? ill just get you the model numbers to everything i have. Be back shortly...

1200 on the TURBO+ FEAR Combat TDM server. I usually average a ping of between 85 and 91 but when you get too many people on there the pings shoot through the roof.
