So I was browsing MantaEngie to see if there's anything fun and new there. Apparently someone had found an easter egg Valve dropped in the last update (or the other update) about the Engy update.

Look at the bottom right corner, the sentry image.

Discuss.
 
What Foe said :P, also note how it appears to only be a level 1 sentry. Perhaps giving the level 1 a bit more firepower but not being able to upgrade it? Would be good for offensive engineers I suppose.

Looks like I was wrong, the SENTRY gets a BFG9000, not the Engineer, oh well, I was close. :P
 
laser sentry+knockback=even more dangerous in the water because noone will even see the bullets :D
Water shark engineering is fun!!! (I will be extremely angry if the upgraded/replacement sentry doesn't work underwater)
 
The engi seriously needs a flame turret..Very limited ammo but good range.

That would be Hulk approved!

You can see the laser coming out just above the barrel of the gun. So maybe it is just some sort of laser targetter?
 
Maybe Jorz, but its a kill icon, which seems to indicate that it would be something that caused death, of course they could just be distinguishing between a lvl1 and a lvl1 with a targeting system.
 
But we already have an automatic targeting system. Perhaps it's a target PAINTER, that makes it do more damage to the tracked target.
 
Personally i think this is no hint to the future but...
Look to the right of the headshot sign (with ambassador) it looks like some1s head being laz0red.
 
Looks interesting, but it might just be nothing.

I'm going to with its nothing, seeing as how Valve has hidden easter eggs multiple times, but they always mean nothing. :P

I think I would be inclined to believe that has something to do with the engineer update.

If you look up higher, you can see what looks like a flaming arrow buried in the guy's back. This isn't an arrow however, it appears to be more of a spike or large nail. As well, you have the flaming suicide icon. As there currently is no way to commit suicide with flame, this certainly appears to be for something new. On top of that, you have the headshot icon and the laser targeting sentry.

As it already has the level 1 sentry higher up, the laser targeting lvl 1 seems different. If it can shoot flaming projectiles, it would certainly explain the new icons. Not only that, but it might indicate being manually targeted, as an automatically targeted sentry always aims at the body, and wouldn't be able to get headshots.
