HDD Help!

Ok so my friend that lives in Colorado calls me up saying that he got a new SATA HDD, but his comp wont detect it. In bios it just doesn't show up, however if he puts the old HDD in, the new one shows up in my computer. Its hard to do anything over the phone and I'm out of ideas Any help? Thanks

Make sure his onboard SATA controller is turned on in the BIOS.

Has this issue been resolved ? If not, please list full system specs and the HDD model number. Give us everything you can find out, including bios version.
