Buying a New Computer

SATA 3 is all around faster than SATA 2. But your motherboard has to support SATA 3, which there aren't very many out yet (Also includes USB 3.0, which is nice for future proofing).

SATA 2 = Up to 3GB/s Data transfer rate
SATA 3 = Up to 6GB/s Data transfer rate

So, you can imagine the performance increase is nice.

The RAM frequencies aren't too much to worry about in your situation. DDR3 at 1333mhz will seem the same as 1600mhz. Those two are a standard for DDR3, so either way it will kick butt. I would recommend anywhere between 4GB's to 8GB's, maybe even more for extra future proofing.

So if my hard drive has 6.0/Gb/s SATA3, I have to buy a mother board with SATA3?

As far as I know, which I'm sure Ibuypower will have some, just research the motherboard listed.

Is having SATA3 noticeable enough to make it worth an extra 100+?

NO there is currently no SATA hard drive on the market that runs faster than SATA2 speeds.

You will not notice any perfomance increase from the SATA3 drive.

Save $30 and get the SATA2 one.

Also, make sure to get an upgraded powersupply. The defualt ones are REALLY BAD, AND WILL DIE!!!!!! Good brands= Corsair, Thermaltake Toughpower (emphasis on the Toughpower, the TR2s are really bad), Antec, seasonic.

Ok, So i've about finalized my build just a few questions left.

I intend to buy the ATI 5770, and I'm wondering is it worth it to go for the Crossfire dual 5770's for an extra 100?

Is Casegear a reliable power supply?

And finally, in the case pictures their all illuminated nicely, but i'm worried about if they come with those lights or I have to buy the cold cathode case lighting?

For only 100 dollars extra, yeh crossfire sounds pretty good. Also, if your case comes with lighting thats great. If it doesnt, who cares? You are on a relatively small budget, and you should not even consider buying lighting (if you want the fastest computer you can get with your budget)

Is Casegear a reliable power supply?

never heard of them in my 10 years of building computers....does that answer your question?

again, thermaltake, corsair, antec (no particular order)

I've been reading some Ibuypower reviews I found, and some are pretty shocking its like 50/50 between worst company ever created, and best company ever. Anyone have other possible computer company suggestions? (Not Alienware)

I was also just reading their companys "own" forums, and theirs a ton of bad reviews and complaints about their awful service...

Cyberpower- It's almost an identical ibuypower, but I think i might use it over Ibuypower.

HP- Can't really customize their computers from what I see

Dell- all the decent gaming computers are Alienware, which cost :facewall:

Falcon Northwest - They cost more then Alienware:scared:
