I've been unfaithful to TF2.

As long as your having fun thats really all that matters! isn't it?

You might've already did it, but have you verified your Steam cache for TF2 yet?

Verfied files again, redownloaded, etc. Still doesn't work. I've just sent a support ticket to steam, hopefully I'll get a response soon. This is extremely frustrating..

welcome back to the good side! lol i sometimes cheat on tf2 with bad company 2 but i always come back to the tf2 ...it understands me and comforts me..bad company just wants one thing...and you know what that is!

Well, I wish you the best of bad luck; I'm just starting to get back into TF2, and don't want to have to deal with YOU. :D

You trying to use any plugins or do you have additional .dll's in your TF2 folder? Sometimes foreign .dll's can cause launch and crash errors. Valve is always screwing over some addon to the game with every patch.

No, I didn't use any plugins. However, I did fix my TF2 - I just deleted everything TF2 and redownloaded, and it worked now. =) I backed up my maps and cfg folder though. Took me forever to get the cfg I wanted, and my maps folder is only more than 4GB.

did you reinstall and all that annoying stuff?....i have personally been fighting valbve to get Left 4 dead 2 to work they updated it and it hasn't worked since

Uninstall L4D2 from steam, then go to your Steam folder. Delete "left4dead2" from the common folder in C:\Program Files\Valve or Steam\Your Username\

This is generally the best way to reinstall these programs. For some reason some files and directory structures are left behind when you uninstall via steam. If I ever need to reinstall, I go down to the bare bones to do so.
