Someone no steam forums say it does switch between the two, so its valve being valve.

they probably won't even release any gender hints in the Meet the Pyro video...

lol :P, I believe in the law of Schrodinger's Pyro, it is both everywhere and nowhere at the same time, and will manifest itself the millisecond you run out of cloak or dead ringer. As of such it has no gender, being an it, and not specifically male or female.
