I was wondering if anyone else has the problem of tf2 crashing and knows how to fix it.

I really only notice it when I'm playing in tf2 lobby, then again that's really the only place i play anymore, but it's annoying to have my game crash in the middle of the match.

I've had this problem too, but after installing Windows 7, it stopped.

You wouldn't by any chance have Vista?

Go to Computer Management >> Event Viewer >> Windows Logs (on left hand panel) >> Application Logs (I believe). Look for your hl2.exe crash and forward us the information provided.

Splitbaker, that's for XP and vista, it doesn't appear to be the same for win7

and MattM, I dont know for sure, but im going to assume yes.

If you don't know, then it might be disabled (default).
Start up TF2, go to your Video options >> Advance >> And towards the bottom right hand corner is a menu for Multi-core Rendering. Enabled or disabled?

Can you do the usual: Defrag the game, play game. If the problem still persists, do a Verify Game Integrity, play game. If doesn't work again, try re-installing.

I actually re-installed it yesterday. still had the problem.

And idk how to defrag or verify game integrity.

Open up Steam's game list >> Right Click on TF2 >> Properties >> Local Files tab >> There you will fine the 2 options

This is a tough problem. Well, go ahead and download Driver Cleaner Pro and delete your display drivers. Do this in safe mode. Download the latest Video driver for your system (I'd make sure if you have 32 bit windows or 64 bit too). Install the driver in safe mode as well.

Is there a free version of this out there cause i don't have 10 to spare right now :(

or is there an alternative?

Ok, so i booted up in safemode. Uninstalled the driver, ran th driver cleaner pro, then reinstalled the driver, and the problem still persists.

However, when i start to think about it, i've had crash problems with other high performance games. I know people will simply say, lower your setting in game

1. I have a geforce 360m so that i can play these games at a high level
2. I have a geforce 360m so there is really no reason that the card (in good condition) should not be able to support games at high specs.

I've read reviews about this card, and from what i can tell, it should be able to handle high specs, let a lone a game like TF2.

So im thinking i need to do something about the actual card? does anyone have opinions/ alternative options?

The 360m is a very good laptop GPU, so it would definitely have no problems maxing out any Source game.

Right, so since presumably my card is having problems with source games, fallout3 and even the sims3 that its a bad card?
