Here are some tips to keep in mind when looking for team members.
- Try to recruit/join other players in the same time zone.
This is helpful because all times will be the same for your team, it also ensures a better time to schedule a match. You won't have to worry about one player just making it from work, only to find out another has to go to bed. - Know who has a mic.
During a match all teams have access to a private vent room and in-game team voice. - Get your roster list in early.
This ensures you get to play with who you want, and also gives you more time to prepare as a team, whether it be practicing the maps, or schedules. - Be clear when joining/recruiting a player what class they (or you) can play effectively. You don't want a team full of scouts.
- Try to meet with your team at least once before your first match.
This is mostly helpful from a scheduling perspective, the captain can get all the member's available play times, instead of getting them lost in PM's. - If you know you will not be able to make a match, whether it be vacation, or a wedding, let your team captain know ASAP.
If it is the team captain missing a match, he/she should send a PM to one of the league admins with who their replacement will be for that match. - Don't be afraid to ask pubs to join.
In season 2 the team rosters will be OPEN, anyone can join a team. - Make sure your team captain schedules the next match nice and early.
Once again, this leaves more time for pre-match prep. - Frequent ventrilo and the eGO IRC. It's a great way to meet people who want to play, and there is almost always someone on who can help you with whatever you need.
