AMD Phenom II X6 1055T

Ok, I was looking into this specific type of CPU.

It has 6 cores, and I was wondering if these were the only 2 motherboards that would support this CPU.

Or is it compatbile with any motherboard that has an AM3 socket type?

It works with any AM3 motherboard that supports 125 watt CPU's and up.

There is a bios update for nearly all socket AM3 motherboards. However only the 8xx motherboards will support the x6 processors out of the box. All the 7xx series motherboards need a bios update before they will work.

1055T is a great CPU.

Overclocks like a beast. Don't listen to guys stuck on 4 cores, 6 is the way of the future

You realize that this revision of Phenom II chips actually runs quite a bit cooler than the quad cores, right?

I had one (1055T), still do actually, but I have moved to a i5 instead for various reasons.

The 1055T is faster than my i5, but won't fit in my epic mITX case

This is the Cheapest, But most reliable Motherboard I can find that supports the new 6 cores, and sata 6GB/s and USB 3.0

Certain ones.

Of course you need a BIOS update for it to work, so if you don't have another AM2/3 cpu on hand, you will have no way to update it.
