Having some problems with my tilde key not working. I first realized it when trying to open up the console (it's been working fine for the last few months), and since I'd experienced and fixed that problem before I thought nothing of it. However, later on I realized that the key doesn't even work in non-steam functions, like simply typing in word/text or even in this post.

Also, I tested this keyboard on a different computer, and the tilde key worked there, so it's not a busted key or anything.

Anyone have any ideas?

Use a key mapper and remap the tilde key to a duplicate key, such as ctrl, shift or alt etc

But I still want to continue using the tilde key itself....just trying to figure out why it won't work?

A key mapper is downloaded software.

@Skippy: Get something skinny and pop off the tilde key, see if there's anything going on there. I don't really have an explanation as for why it won't work though.

I was going to see if there was any debris making the key 'stuck', but I tried this keyboard on my laptop and it worked fine. :confused1:

does it not work at all? or just not in DoDS?

because if its the latter, I have had that issue as well, and all thats required to fix it is to restart steam

Fixed it.

Did some Google-research and ended up disabling "Human Interface Devices -> HID-compliant consumer control device" in Device Manager.

that probably means your keyboard drivers were corrupted. !up plug and play lol

Glad you fixed it

I think it had something to do with a Windows update that came in, because prior to that everything was working fine. In my research I found that it was something to do with Windows Media Center, and I'm pretty sure that's correct because after disabling the said device, now the 'media' buttons on my keyboard, like volume up/down, don't work anymore (which I can live with).
