best video card for $100-200 range?

what would be the best video card for gaming.
i need one that can play most games, and im not talking about like crysis on high, but maybe be able to run it on medium perfectly.
looking for nvidia, but if there are good ATI cards for that price post em!

I have a 4870 that lets me play anything right now (DoD:S, CS:S, WoW, C&C3, L4D, Stalker)...and it can run Crysis on high at 1920x1080.

A quick suggestion, you should have a pretty high end CPU or at least, if you're gonna be installing a good Graphics card.
I agree with the other guys, ATI 5770 is the right one.

If you cannot do crossfire, then the best card for $200

Radeon 4870
or
MSI HAWK Radeon 5770

The GTX 260 will be faster, and it is an nVidia card, so you get physX and CUDA, but the 5770 uses less electricity, and has DX11. The 4870 about ties the 260.
I like the MSI Hawk version because of the epic cooler on it which has allowed ppl to get 1000MHz core, and still have reasonable temps.

I would go with the ATI 5770, it has a low power consumption, its faster than the Nvidia 200 GTX series (I found this out the hard way...) and It is priced decently, I would definately recommend this specific one.

It has good cooling, its silent, and a good deal faster than the other 5770's out there, this will play BFBC2 maxed out on a 30in display.

But if your looking to play in 3d (which would cost a great deal more for the 120hz Monitor, and 3D vision kit) and you want CUDA for professional purposes, I would recomend the 260 GTX, or the 250 GTS which is pretty much the same as the 9800 GTX+.

Of course the ATI card is gona save you alot more money than the Nvidia card, and even the card and 3D stuff.

ATI HD 5770 - $170
Nvidia 260 GTX - $200
Nvidia 250 GTS - $130, $150
or
ATI 5870, but beware. the older 4000 series from ATI uses alot of power, and they still experience driver issues.

CONCLUSION: The 5770 is going to be your best choice, I own a 275 GTX from Nvidia, and I have tested it personally against the ATI 5770. The 5770 has more memory, faster memory, A higher effective memory clock, and Direct X 11, This is the best bang for your buck, and you will not be dissapointed.

I would get a used 4890. Faster than the 5770...who cares about DX11 right now. It's a faster card, and can be had for around 150.

Thats pretty much the best you can do for 200 bucks, it should overclock extremely well and run much cooler than most 5770s. Overclocked 5770's are extremely powerful.
Also, a gts 250 wouldn't perform that well even at the lowest of settings...

yea man I know what your talking about my ATI x1800 runs Crysis around 60fps on very high settings and 1080p res.

Totally - the price performance of the 5770 is...whoa.

It's the successor to the old 4870, runs quieter, cooler, uses less power, DX 11, and makes you feel special, like when starfish tickle your nose.
